Well, finally thats over. Falcons drop one by a bunch to Western Michigan. When will it ever end and we win big road games consistently.....

Then again, who consistently wins big road games besides Duke, NC, Arizona, and Illinois?

WMU has really kicked our butts this year. They have had our number for a while now. I hope we don't face them again, and I hope that somehow Ball State will be able to beat them w/o Trammell.

Absolutely pathetic performance by BG. Sounded like they were sleepwalking out there. I'll be happy if we win a first round game the way we played today.

I knew I should have done a covert op against them when I was stuck at DTW with them on my way back form Mobile! I beleive WMU was on their way back from beating WVU and their flight to K-zoo was canceled.

Does anyone can to argue that Germain's situation was not distracting? How else do you play for first place in the last week of the season and FORGET TO SHOW UP?!?!?!? I will take Western over us all day long and I think they have much more talent, but this was not as close as the box score would indicate with a 25 point spread.

Here are some really fun stats to share with for the night . . . We had three guys get more fouls than points and one is a SENIOR. The other was our HAND-CHOSEN starting point guard and Mawi.

No one cracked double figures as our great offensive balance left us with 3 guys sharing the scoring lead at 9.

Team shot 40% from the floor, but this was not close at all. I liked the WBGU crew for the most part. The color guy is great and was on Floyd like a cheap coat right from the get-go.

A "must-win" on a day when everyone will either play out of their minds, or show up very tight trying to do everything too perfectly. Let's hope for the first option.

The good news was that Buffalo lost. Other than that we received no help in the standings with Toledo pulling it out in OT, OU winning, Akron winning and us getting blown out.

What a terrible game to travel to...

It was embarassing to be there but the fans were nice (probably because they won). Other than that, the game sucked...

I agree with Option (maybe for the first time ) about the effect the Germain situation has on the team. This team thrived on team chemistry and from what every player and coach has said, Germain was a very central figure in the teams success this year, even if it wasn't on the floor all the time. He provided leadership in the locker room, on the bench and outside of Anderson Arena. He made a huge mistake and I do not think anyone can say that it has not had an adverse effect. The WMU blow out is a shining example. This team has many leaders, but with all of the adversity that Germain has faced since coming to BG, he may have been looked up to by other players most. He dropped the ball and I think it has truly hurt this team.

I tend to agree as well...with 1st place and a possible 1st round bye, how could you not show up ready??? I was so disappointed when I heard the score 54-31 on the net, I turned the PC off.....and I never do that. I just don't shut games off when BG is playing in anything. But last night, I wanted no part of that.

Bad week all around. It's a shame the team wasted such a great win over Miami and backed it up with this performance.

Better rally the troops or this season will come to a screeching halt.

Yep, hard to believe the lack of enthusiasm we had last night. It was only a couple of minutes into the game and Dakich got a technical. He pretty much admitted on the post game show he did it on purpose to try to get something going in the team. When the coach has to do that so early in the game, you might as well get back on the bus and go home.

I call bullshit. In fact, I call double dog bullshit.

I know that Germain has been an asset to the team, and the determination, effort and even courage he has shown with all he's been through dwarfs that of many people, but it was a drug arrest. He didn't die, he wasn't seriously injured in an accident, he (messed) up. Regardless of what he meant to the team from a support factor from the bench, he didn't cost them 30 or 35 points. I think it sucks that he found himself in that situation, especially after he looked poise to make SOME kind of ANOTHER comeback, but its his bed, he has to lie in it. When it comes down to it, on the floor, this was pretty much the same team that has been playing together for a month and a half with out Fitch, and they got drilled. Not to drag out a tired old football analogy, but this wasn't Omar Jacobs or Charles Sharon being suspended or injured for a game two nights before it went down. This team had a division title wrapped up with a win last night, and they pissed one down their leg. Plain and simple.

I love G. Fitch for the effort and dedication he has given to my school and its athletic program, but to say that, in the condition he's in now, being held off the bus for a game caused them to lose by 25 is crap. You all know it, and I know it. I just can't believe that anyone would buy into it.

If you want to claim Fitch was the missing link or the problem, then maybe we should say Phillips is one, too. Being redshirted, he did not make the road trip last night (if he did I didn't see him on the bench or anywhere else but I was way up high so my mistake). Maybe him not being there was what hurt the team. His enthusiasm on the bench could have propelled us to win the game.
