Notebook: Daniels keeps handle on the ball
By Greg Bishop
Seattle Times staff reporter
Trying to examine Antonio Daniels' assist-to-turnover ratio has been difficult lately because, well, you need turnovers in order to complete the ratio.
That's what happens when you commit two turnovers in 11 games, much like Daniels has in a recent stretch. In his last five games, Daniels has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 20:1 — that's one turnover at Milwaukee and at least two assists in every game, highlighted by eight in a win at New Orleans.
"Don't take chances," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said in way of explanation. "Very seldom does he take a bad chance. You can see what he will do before the play, even."
Maybe McMillan, a former Sonics point guard, can see what Daniels does before he does it. Opposing defenses haven't been so lucky, as Daniels has led the Sonics in assists 14 times this season.
McMillan said that he pushed the seventh-year guard to be more aggressive this season. Daniels was averaging 11.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 27.8 minutes entering last night.
"He needed to be more aggressive," McMillan said. "I don't want him to turn it over, but I want him to be more aggressive. We make a constant push to be aggressive."

That's a great stat for a PG! He is actually leading the league in APT this season and I memory serves me correct, he did last year, too! I really hope he hasn't started enough games and gets the 6th man award this year...he is doing a fantastic job!

He should be fine with games started... while I don't have an exact number, the one past "Sixth Man Award" winner I found was Bobby Jackson from 2002-03, and he started 26 games that year. AD has started 2.
14 more tonight off the bench!

So I guess all my hopes about AD getting the award are officially shot down.
I dislike you now Ben Gordon...

From the article, atleast one MAC player is getting some love, "Gordon received 88 of 125 first-place votes and 513 points from a panel of media members. Boston guard Ricky Davis was second with 257 points, and Denver guard
Earl Boykins was third with 155."

Maybe some of that money could go toward the new/improved basketball facility.

Or pay for a body double so a certain obsessed webmaster stops following him around with a video camera. . . . 8)

I would like to see the CAVS make a run at him. If he was back in Ohio, he would have the opportunity to support the BG program. Not sure what kind of relationship he has with DD.

It could be a Seattle trifecta. McMillian, Allen, and AD all end up in C-town.

Mike I'd be interested to know your opinion on this...are the SuperSonics gonna get anywhere in the playoffs?

Seattle's McMillan going to Cleveland to coach (since getting Phil Jackson is not likely) and bringing along a awesome athletic pg in AD to help Lebron bring back the Cav's to respectability, I like it!

Don't know if that could happen though. But it would be nice to have AD back in Ohio.
