NOTE TO BG: Look at how Ohio's doing it!

Post by BGSU33 »

Ohio's leading scorers tonight against Miami: Troutman (19), Green (15), Williams (12) and Green (12)...it's the two things I talked about in my post about DD being let go (which I wasn't in favor of)..... 1. Balanced Scoring and 2. Impact Newcomers. Three of these four OU players are newcomers this year (two freshman, one JUCO) and the other guy is a sophomore!!!! This is how you put things together. They are only going to get better and better too.

NOTE TO BG: Recruit and bring in this kind of talent! Even if Ohio loses in the MAC Championship, this "group" of guys, and not a guy or two, carried them there. All this group of inexperience players did was put them a win away from the NCAA Tournament. That is what I call balance and impact.

As someone who was there and watched every game yesterday let me say that Leon Williams was the best player in all the games yesterday. A close second is Cage, the backup guard for Buffalo, but I'd say it was Williams. He absolutely dominated the glass and was able to post up and get some good looks when they needed him to on offense against KSU.

I was sitting with an OU fan, and I basically told him that if he stays & improves for his 4 years he will own this conference, and I was not kidding. Anyone who hasn't seen the kid play yet really should get out and watch him. He is not a true center, but he's already got NBA size for a PF, and can box out quite well as well.

OU is going to be hella scary for a few years.

Ohio is putting together a team like I wish we were at BG. They struggled a few years ago, and O'Shea took some heat not long ago, but the last two recruiting classes has put Ohio on the map in a big way. I really, really wish we'd recruit the kind of players they have the last couple years. In the last two seasons, they had three All-MAC Freshman team selections, one MAC Freshman of the Year, a JUCO start and have a very athletic Boston College transfer waiting to play...not to mention some solid role players.

That DD has some major defeciencies when it comes recruiting as of late. He's made so many bad choices in recruiting players that end up leaving or don't fit our system for whatever reason. DD needs to get it together this time. At just first glance it appears this a pretty good rectuiting class , but we'll see.

I'll do you one better: I think Leon Williams will be the best post player in the MAC next year, even better than Travis. Williams is already strong and he's SO QUICK around the basket. TOS need to bring in a center so that he can play the PF and really blossem.

OU is scary next year with Fears, Green, Troutman, and Williams returning. That's the best group of returnees in the conference, and they'll fight with Kent to be the MAC's best team. Fears and Green, with their awesome speed and quickness, are the type of players that I'm hoping DD will sign in the spring.

The MAC East will be a bear next year. I almost wish we were staying in the West.

I think DD will live or die with this year's class.

They did it. Down 19, newcomers all over the floor, and they got the win. So much for experienced players in big games...these guys have ice in their veins. To see a young team as cool as calm down the stretch like that is scary. Maybe I don't want to go back to the MAC East. :?
