Not sure what has happened in years past, but this year Easter falls really early. In March this year. Actually Easter Sunday is also the day of the Elite 8.

Do you think its right to play college basketball on Easter. What would happen if a team like ND or Holy Cross, well heck, even Duke, make it to the Elite 8. They are so religious, would they get their games moved to Saturday?

It's Easter. I used to work on weekends, Easter was not even a time & a half holiday for us.

I realize for many that are into religion Easter is a big deal, but if not for all the candy in the stores many people wouldn't even know about it. I doubt if they'd change any tournament schedule for Easter.

For many, Easter is more important than Christmas.

No doubt, as a RELIGIOUS holiday--not a commercial one--Easter is way bigger than Christmas. Not even close.

Having said that, nothing seems to get scheduled around it. Baseball plays on Easter, etc.

For many Easter is another day on the calendar and next to meaningless. Would you suggest that the NCAA start not playing games on any religous holidays?

Never denied that. My point was that for many more Easter may as well not even exist.

If not for the Easter Bunny and some chocolates in the stores many kids wouldn't even know about Easter (although they do get some extra days off school). Honestly, I don't even know when Easter is this year, but I know it must be coming up because all the restaurants have cheap Fish Sandwiches and there is an "Easter Candy" display set up at Meijer.

If they play football on Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years' Day, Easter is cool with me.

The NCAA was going to reschedule for BYU when they were in the tournament. BYU has a policy of not playing games on Sundays due to religious convictions. If BYU would have won its first three games that year, they would of had to play a Sunday game. The NCAA’s solution was if BYU won its first two games, they were going to switch BYU's part of the bracket with the Midwest section that featured Dayton, so BYU could play fourth game on Saturday if they won their third game. So what I'm saying is it comes down to the school's policies. And I don't believe any school in the tournament this year or Notre Dame even, has a policy of not playing on Easter. So the whole point maybe interesting, but is also moot if no school has a policy against playing on Easter.

I am just saying what if their is a player who is really religious and decides he doesnt want to play on Easter.

Remember the baseball player last year that didnt play on the jewish holiday, Shawn Green. Wasnt that in the NL playoffs?

I am curious as to why you throw Duke in with the other two religiously oriented institutions?

As for my opinion, if we can have a tourney at a time of war, we can play basketball during a religious holiday.

Have friends that go to Duke, and they are very religious down there. I was very surprised.
