Western is up on Marquette by 10 at the last media timeout in about the ugliest basketball game I've seen all year. Brent Musberger, despite being an idiot, has made some interesting comments about the MAC. Him and Lavin both were a little salty about U Buff or Miami not getting in. At least I didn't have to listen to Dickie V rant on about the MAC.

Well they have completely shut Marquette down. They cannot buy a basket.
I was pleased to see that they are talking very highly of the MAC teams. It could be WMU vs Miami in the second round.

The NIT brackets are screwed-up. Why have the possibility of two teams from the same conference play in the second round?
I know it is only the NIT, but I hope that when all four MAC teams win their first round games and three (because of the Miami - WMU match-up in the second round) win their second round games some of the people on this board realize how good the conference was/is and stop bad-mouthing the MAC as a mediocre conference.

Well the one good way to look at it is if it is two MAC teams facing each other, we are guaranteed to get a team to the third round.
And hey I was sticking up for the MAC big time in another thread. I think the conference is better than ever now.

It was a pretty good win, and WMU totally dominated. I'll reserve my judgement on the whole of the conference for if one of the teams beats a real team. Marquette was only above average before they lost Diener, and they've been awful since.
One good thing though, was that it appeared as WMU is ready to play in the NIT. So many times you see teams come out flat and look like crap just wanting to go home.

Hey, a win is a win......and we've had some ugly ones here at BG in the last several years. Once BG was bounced from the MAC Tournament, I was hoping WMU would have gone on to win and go to the NCAAs. BTW, I think if Miami (Ohio) beats TCU, Miami and WMU will play each other ...... that sucks.

I was thinking the same thing. If Miami (Oh) wins their first round game. Then at least the MAC is guaranteed one team in the final 8

Yeah I think of BG everytime but usually it is the road team who is flat. I was impressed that WMU went there with such quick notice and kicked the crap out of them. It has to be along time since Marquette was held to just 40 points.
