Coach Dakich did indicate on the Ticket today he was on the road recruiting, so we must be looking for one more guy, FWIW.
A point or 2 guard guard I hope...

What some poster said about Ohio oozing with the kind of talent we don't have is so right on! We need these kind of players , I don't mean settle for nuckleheads either. We all know about UT and their "talent". :-\

According to this in the LA Times, he was in Boston (!!) recruiting.
Years ago, another Indiana assistant, Ron Felling, called Dakich to complain about Knight's coaching. Knight overheard the conversation and allegedly shoved Felling when he confronted his assistant. And Knight told Dakich he'd never help him again.
Yet Dakich said Monday from Boston, where he was on a recruiting trip, that he still calls Knight's son, Patrick, for tapes of Texas Tech games and practices. Why? "The guy is the greatest coach who's ever lived," Dakich said. That includes, he added, UCLA's John Wooden.
"It was different eras, different places," Dakich said, "but Coach Knight revolutionized the game in terms of his motion offense. There's just so much more good than bad overall."
Wow!

Bob Knight shoving another person? Shocking!

Well, I'll say this that Coach Knight has has a ton of alot more to work with than DD ever has as it relates to pure talent overall. Knight is sucessfull with that motion offense because he has necessary players to run it effectivley. We just don't right now. It sometime works for us here and there but when you have players like JR who have slower-than-mollasses footspeed your going to go only so far.

O+B,
At the Gund, the day after our guys got blown out, I had a chance to talk very briefly with DD, until an elderly lady approached and also started a conversation with him... He said he had TWO scholarships open and was going to leave on recruiting trip soon. She asked him if he was looking at some JC players and his response was "yes".... end of conversation, except I only said, "hope you come up with some scorers"....he just smiled.

Is there still a rule you can only bring in five guys in a given recruiting class? We had four before, and I thought the limit was five.
Quality JC players would be a good thing.
Crap!

Did one of our recruits just back out or what? Unless DD is thinking of walking these guys on but that doesn't make sense either. Yikes, I dont' like the sound of this at all!

Cuz I don't believe we have 2 schollies to give away , we should only have one more if we do indeed have 4 committs.

I believe all 4 of the early commits signed LOIs in the early signing period, so they cannot back out now. Perhaps they're going to take a scholarship away from someone? Or he's aware of someone leaving the program? Maybe somebody's leaving early for the NBA?

could this possibly be the writing on the wall that fitch will not be returning next season?

Where would Fitch fit in this scenerio? Couldn't that explain the extra opening?

Good call. I would bet that Fitch will no longer be with the program with DD's feelings on that sort of thing. Its unfortunate that it happens that way, but hopefully they'll find an adequate replacement.
In regards to somebody else's question, I believe the NCAA did away with the 5/8 rule did they not?
Im not crying......

If his schollie can be given to someone who can help us offensively as well as defensively and has some talent then there's no loss as far as I'm concerned.

Assuming Fitch & Monty return, we have 1 'ship to give.

After hearing Dan comment about Germain's situation for about the third time in two weeks, I would say it's a safe bet he's done for good. He sounded quite dispondent when referring to it this week . . . even hinting that it did have an effect on the team at the end of the year.

I really hope that DD is looking at the JC level. I know for a fact that there are some very good shooters out there that are still available. The National Tournament is next week, and I hope he has someone going out to try to find someone. There are also some players that aren't in the tournament that are not signed yet, I hope they find one of them and can convince them that BG is the place to be.
