i just got around to reading sunday's canton repository this morning, and came across the following letter:

The image of the Mid-American Conference as portrayed by the president of the University of Toledo at the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club last week was drastically different than the one discovered Monday night at a first round game of the MAC men’s basketball tournament on the Kent State University campus.
Admission to see Kent frolic: $18. Show your Kent Gold T-shirt: $5. Coke at halftime: $3 Programs, or rather lack of them, or even a scorecard of rosters: WORTHLESS.
This truly was “MAC Madness. There were only slightly more folks at Kent than at the Four Winds, and the Chippewas (Central Michigan) who were handed their heads by the Golden Flashes would have had trouble staying with the Doylestown Chippewas.
That’s MAC, as in Masquerading As a Conference.
