Everyone was complaining about Notre Dame deserving to be in the big dance. Anyone see this last night.
Notre Dame didn't play like a team that just missed out on an NCAA Tournament berth.
Holy Cross looked a lot more deserving of such a berth, outhustling and outplaying the Fighting Irish for a 78-73 victory Tuesday night in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament, the first postseason victory for the Crusaders in 24 years.
And without looking, guess what the attendance was for this game. Their arean hold 11,418 and they have had 7 straight sellouts. What was last nights attendance??????

2500!!!!! I been going through ND records and I gone back to 1995 season and no attendance has been under 6100 and that was a weekend of christmas break. I am guessing that is probably the least number of people to ever see a game at the Joyce Center, for bball that is.

Indiana's expecting a record low tonight, as well.... combination of apathy and Spring Break at IU.
But can we really poke fun at a team who's all-time low attendance gives our average a run for the money?

I'm not necessarily advocating Notre Dame's deserving of an NCAA bid, but I've noticed over the years that you see this a lot of really poor NIT showings from the "bubble" teams that don't get in. You have one team who is disappointed, thinks they got the shaft, and their heart simply isn't in it. And they play another team who is truly excited just to be in the post season at all.
It's no surprise which team wanted that game a whole lot more, and that will often win over superior ability.

Butler may have deserved to be in the dance more than us that year. But yeah, BYU was just all out bad. I was at that Butler game, from what I remember those refs wern't very nice to Keith, and there were quite a bit of fans there if i remember right. That place has a lot of history, not to mention they sell Jumbo Bulldawgs!

I too was at the BG vs Butler game (and still have the ticket stub for that matter). I agree I thought the refs didnt really let us get into any sort of flow on both ends of the court. I'm not going to say that the refs cost us the game (especially since i now coach a team and won't ever let them us that excuse), but there were some questionable calls. Was still a great game to be at though.
