Vandy 67
IU 60

Hoosiers end the season 15-14 and supposedly the only thing saving Davis' job right now is the STRONG recruiting class he has coming in. Josh Smith would have made a world of difference at IU had he chosen to come, but it wasn't the case and alums are going to be calling for a return to the Bobby Knight era and you know who's name will be mentioned with that kind of talk.

I think Alford is safe at Iowa with their tourney bid (rumors earlier had him on the way out), and I don't know enough about Alford to know if he'd bail on one Big 10 school for another, even given the circumstances. Especially if Davis could be saved by a recruiting class, it might not be a pretty situation if the class isn't as good as advertised.

He was basically starting 4 freshman this season. His recruiting class was pretty good this season and would have been better if this season's NBA Slam Dunk champ didn't decide to go pro . DJ White is a force in the post and they have a few other guys that will do pretty well filling in next season. They also have three guys that are sitting out this year because of transfer rules. One guy they are supposed to have next season is 7'3". Davis is a pretty good recruiter to say the least. People want to play for this guy.

If Davis get's tossed you can bet DJ White will be gone (Davis has known White since White and Davis' son were in preschool). I say give him time to develop the players he has brought in.

This is Coach D's first coaching job. When Coach K took over at Duke people were calling for his head the first couple of seasons then he recruited a guy named Dawkins and the rest is history.

I'm not doubting Davis' abilities, merely just adding that a loss at home to put a cap on a 15-14 season won't win him any supporters anytime soon. He does have a load of young talent that have to produce next year, sadly.

There are wild rumors on this. Among them is that Indiana supporters don't want Davis to succeed next year, or they will be stuck with him.

Even weirder, Mark Cuban (IU Grad) was rumored to be interested in buying out Davis himself so classmate Randy Wittman could coach there.
