If you were an assistant (and I don't care where) with the chance for a head coaching position, would you stay where you were?

It's called "moving up".
I'll leave it at that before I make a comment that shuts down the board for a month.

So does that make Artie a bad coach since he hasn't "moved up" yet?

Unless.....

Stone thinks that the University of Michigan is planning on firing Amaker soon if he doesnt' turn things around soon, then no. The only reason I would go to Michigan to be an assistant would be if there's a chance of Amaker being fired after another bismal season. I'm surprised Amaker is still at Michigan for another season. Michigan has been crappy for over 5 season now.

So that you can be released if Amaker leaves? That doesn't make sense.

I'd go to Michigan in a heartbeat.....They have a better hockey team
falconboy...when you wrote "bismal season" were you trying to say "abysmal" or were you making some kind of joke out of "pepto-bismal"?

If they can make me chuckle at the thought of diarrhea, that has to be a great commercial.

Losing staff is not a poor reflection on a head coach, in the manner that losing players to transfer is.
In fact, it is a compliment to the head coach. If, in fact, UM hire Stone it is in essence the big ole Big 10 Michigan saying that you've done well at little ole Bowling Green, we'd like to see what you can do for us.
Former BG Assistants Who Have Moved Up The Ladder (off the top of my head)
Steve Merfeld- Head Coach Evansville, former Hampton Head Coach who upset Iowa state in 2001 NCAA tourney
Stan Heath- Head Coach Arkansas, former Kent State head coach
Jamie Angeli- former head coach Lake Superior, top assistant to Steve Lavin while at UCLA
Marc Ivaroni- former NBA assistant coach
Tom Sorboro- BG G.A. in early 90s, former Director of Basketball operations at University of Michigan
