Wish List for Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba Convocation Center

A group of well-healed Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.Com posters (who desire to remain anonymous) have pitched in and aquired naming rights for the new convocation center. All posters are invited to help create a "Wish List" for the new center. Here is my early "Wish List".

1-location:South end of Doyt Perry.

2-capacity:9,000-10,000, carefully, not cheaply, designed to be expandable. No visible concrete block ends.

3-student friendly, e.g. providing students close to the court seating, and allowing them to stand and cheer without obstructing the view of others.

4-a carefully designed complex which works equally well for basketball games and other events. I have heard that the Miami convo does not do this.

5-architecture:something that blends in with the new Sebo SAC, permitting future renovations to the Doyt that will achieve a new, harmonious look for the whole athletic complex.

6-not just a big barn, but a nicely designed, aesthetic exterior and plush interior.

7-emphasis on convenience and comfort when it comes to parking, concessions, restrooms, seating, etc.

8-luxury boxes.

9-the latest in press and radio/TV facilities, sound systems, and scoreboards.

I would like something similar to the Cintas Center at Xavier.

Amen to the changing tables...I'd prefer a couple of "family restrooms" as my wife and I hope to crank out at lest one more young 'un.

Athletic Archives-Hall of Fame- more than just a closet and photos on a wall. An interactive, historical center with cool displays and designs.

And what are parents changing into in the bathrooms and why do they need a table for it?

In addition to what you all have suggested:

1. Sell Beer

2. Better concession food choices, i.e. Gyros, Italian Sausages, etc.

3. Sell Beer

4. If the new place is bigger it may take longer to walk to get concessions, perhaps vendors in the seats?

5. Sell Beer

6. Put those lights around the backboards that turn on when the clock expires, they look cool.

7. Sell Beer

8. Get a new announcer that does not say "Timeout...ON the FLOOR". We know where the game is going on, and we are pretty sure its not a time out on the upper level stands...

9. Make it acoustically friendly, if possible, to get a concert or two in there. AA is about the worst concert venue I've ever attended, and they still manage an act or two a year. A better place might get a couple more?

10. Lastly, I really think they should consider selling beer! :)

You sure can sell beer at collegiate events.

University of Cincinnati sells beer at their on campus venue the Shoemaker Center. Colorado State sold beer at home football games up until mid way of this past 2004 season. Heck, even at Bowling Green beer is available in the south endzone at halftime and liquor is available in the suites at Perry Stadium.

We don't need 8,000-10,000+. I'd rather see a smaller 7,000 that can make some serious noise when it's loud enough.

My wish list:

We could fill 10,000 seats. Even once.

I know that Ohio and Ball State have drawn over 10,000 more than once.

Do you remember that when Toledo opened Centennial Hall (since renamed Savage Hall), their opponent was Bob Knight and the Indiana Hoosiers?

I'll bet you this. If we had a new 10,000 arena and opened it with Bob Knight and the Texas Tech Raiders, we would sell out

It would be a crazy color scheme.... Red and Brown and Orange.

Miami has sold out Millett, I think the record was like 11,000something. I'd love to see how they did THAT!

They CAN seel Beer, and BG should do it. That would encourage me to go to a BG game or two.
