Hey, you beat me by 5 minutes on posting this...maybe I'll start a poll.
Vandermeer leaving is a suprise and a real blow. He looked like he was going to develop into a very good MAC post player (way better than Edwards). That leaves Lefeld as the only returning player over 6'-6".
Ouch!

Yeah, this was a big surprise. Vandermeer was looking pretty good with some playing time. I figured if any big guy was leaving it would be Lefeld.

Any ideas as to why he left? He seemed like he was going to be the man for the next couple of years if he could learn to put the ball in the hoop. Maybe he had a problem with learning how to score. That sucks.

I got an idea. Because he doesn't like the coach, just like the twenty-five other guys that have left in the last two years.

A little birdie informed me of this a month ago, and I was hoping said birdie was wrong.
Since the birdie was correct on the first count, perhaps he was also correct in stating that it was at his parents' urging that Scott was leaving. Apparently they wanted him closer to home.

This is really disappointing news to hear. I was hoping Vandy was buying in to the system and would be one of the players to be challenged by Dakich and perform at his peak. I was looking forward to watching him evolve into a dominant post player for us.

Darn over-protective parents. Wouldn't want Scott to learn a thing or two on his own.

I am stunned to see this! I hate to say it because I love the program so much, but I'm starting to think there are some underlying issues and they need to get worked out. There is no way for a program to get good off of first year players or 2nd year transfer EVERY year.
UnFreakinbelievable!!!!!

Unbelievable!!!! This mutual decision for Vanameer to leave? What does that mean? Scott leaving cuz his parents want him closer to home seems rather odd but it makes more sense than him leaving cuz he thinks he won't get playing time, because he would've been our staring center most likley and probably counted on for scoring quite abit more for us to anything. This is ridiculous! I'm getting sick and tired of this. Somethings seriously wrong with DD's recruiting formula , and he needs to agument it or just flat out change it or something because what he's doing now isn't working up to this point. Does anyone know of another school that has lost as many guys to transfer over the last 3 to 4 years than us? These yearly transfers are becoming a plauge! I didn't really fret over Monty leaving seeing as I was very disappointed in his development anyway, but Vandameer hurts big time. What Monty said about wanting to play for a team that shoots the 3 20-30 times is little weird because if I remember correctly JR shot the 3 quite a alot for us these last couple of years. But I'm not surprised at all at his apparent disgust for our offensive system as it stands today. Its interesting that probably after watching all of these uptempo style teams in the NCAA Tourney playing for a National Championsip, guys like Monty are realizing how boring our offense is.
Does anybody have guauze the size of Texas? We don't have bleeding , we've got serious hemoraging.
