Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced that Darryl Clements, a 6-4 All-State guard from Detroit's Rogers Academy, and Dusan Radivojevic, (doo-san rah-duk-o-vich) a 6-7 forward from Serbia & Montenegro, have signed national letters of intent to attend BGSU and play for the Falcons next season.

Clements led the Rangers to the Michigan Class D state title and averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as a senior.

"Darryl is a very versatile, all-around player that has a real understanding of the game at both ends of the court.," said Dakich.

Radivojevic, 19, averaged 35 points and six rebounds for Takovo, a 3rd Division amateur program in his native land. He was a member of Beopetrol, Belgrade (the top junior team in Yugoslavia) and won cadet (under 16) and junior (under 18 ) national titles in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, he averaged 20 points per game with Borak, Cacak, a junior amateur squad.

"Dusan is a very experienced player who works hard, is a great shooter, and has excellent fundamentals," added Dakich.

Glad to see this announcement. This will be crazy with seven new players next season, six being freshman. :o

Oh, noticed the Dusan is from Serbia & Montenegro, not Yugoslavia. But I think we had that starightened out anyway.

I think this European & the JuCo kid will come in right away and light it up, if what I've read is accurate.

I did some searching on the web, and this Daryl Clements seems to put up solid assist numbers. I found a few different box scores and all of them seem to show him with 7+ assists and <3 TOs. I'm hoping that he is a natural passer that sees the court well.

Despite the fact that we have so little scoring returning, the more alarming thing is that we have nobody that can see the court and has natural passing ability. If you put a natural passer on a team you'll see guys scoring much easier, even if they aren't the most talented scorers in the world.

Probably getting official press releases. I stopped getting those when I posted the thing about Ron Lewis this past summer! Interesting how that worked out...

It's essentially the same thing.

Two years ago, the former Yugoslavia started calling itself Serbia and Montenegro. All the other republics of Yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina) had bailed out.

If Dusan played for a team in Belgrade, he's probably Serbian.

Clements is ranked as the #21 prospect in Michigan's class of 2005 by Prepspotlight.com. That's a pretty decent ranking in Michigan, especially considering the overall strength of the class. Sullivan was ranked #9.

Darrell Clements........

He sounds like a pg if he averaged around 7 assists a game. A 6'4 pg is what we could really use right now. Someone who is athletic and can penetrage the lane and dish is what we really need right now. Hopefully (I'm seem to be using that word alot) this Clements kid will be that kind of player. Oh yeah, and lets pray they stay on the team till their seniors!! :-\

LaMonta Stone

If you note 3 of the 7 new guys are from the Detroit area. My guess is LaMonta is responsible for this. If these recruits work out, this will really help the program long term.

Clements is a combo guard who transferred (ought to fit right in at BG) from Harper Woods Notre Dame to Detroit Rogers. I'm assuming BG recruited him as a point. He was eligible only for the second half of the season at Rogers. Doesn't appear to be much of a shooter and is more of a slasher; he wasn't the "go to" guy at Rogers. I might be wrong but I believe they had a big guy who signed with Weber State and they have another guard who was the Class D player of the year in Michigan and their leading scorer (and remains unsigned). It appears that Clements might be a bit of a reach, but I hope I'm wrong.

You can't go wrong with a guy from Serbia-Montenegro unless you start giving him loans :)

My thoughts exactly. Does this give Lamaonta a leg up if we need to hire a new HC next week or so?

His recruiting has been nice!
