Golf outing

Post by Rightupinthere »

Can anyone give us the low-down on the golf outing?

I was oh-so tempted to run out to BG for the day, but I had way too much to do around the homestead.

It was a good time. Subway subs and Nike golf shirts at the signup followed by a "pre-game" welcome from Coach Dakich. 18 holes of fun in a 30+ MPH wind and we all enjoyed Outback steaks with the usual amenities. It's a great time if any of you can make it next year. This is my second year in a row and the rest of the guys in the group's third.

Interesting notes . . .

Esterkamp, Lenny, Gerken, Cowboy and Stace all made appearances. Sorry if I missed anyone. Almanson, Alvin Freeman and John Floyd were all present most of the day as well.

Pardon was suppose to be there but his wife had a baby the night before and this is the quote of the year . . . (Dan speaking) "For some reason or another, Brandon and his wife (Johanna) decided to name it after Trent Jackson and named the boy Jackson Pardon. So, we all know the kid is probably holding up a liquor store or something right about now."

The whole place was rolling.

Two huge Nike travel bags full of Athletic Department goodies were raffled off and the usual grab-fest of door prizes at the end.

(-)15 under won it this year and 14 came in second with Team Stacey pulling in third at 13 under. Considering the wind, that was a helluva score at Creason, considering 19 under won it last year.

Dan mentioned several times that we have 7 kids signed so evidently the visit this week didn't get done or they are waiting on him to commit.

All in all a good day as usual.

That is HILARIOUS! I would have been rolling, too!

On another note, are these golf outings basically scrambles tournaments? I knew all the teams had golf outings but I never really looked into them.

Yes, that includes all you can drink beer.

Here are some highlights that I enjoyed while at the outing:

1. Anthony Stacey dressed like Payne Stewart.
2. Esterkamp flipping off Dakich.
3. Dakich commenting on Pardon's new child (previously mentioned).
4. Finding out how ugly Norm Wamer really is. I mean, that dude is fugly.
5. Dakich stating that a "Dakich bobblehead will make your wife real happy."
6. The size of the Outback steaks. I don't think I will crap for another week.

As the Morrow County Sentinel would say..."A good time was had by all."

Ahhh...your first meeting with Wamer, eh?

Yeah, he's among the ugliest human beings I've ever seen. Worst of all is that once you've met/seen him you cannot get his image out of your head. So now his face for radio is in your brain, even when listening on the radio.

I listen to their show because its the only local sports talk, but it is really a HORRID show. Those two are a pair of dolts, and that's putting it nicely.

Do you remember in "Weird Science" when Lisa turned Chet into that blob thing towards the end of the movie? That's what I thought of when I saw Norm Wamer.

And yes, he is part of one of the most terrible radio sports show I have ever heard. Truly pathetic.

What's truly scary is that Wamer's show is miles BETTER than the Tom Cole/Tom Duncan combo that preceded Wamer and his sidekick....whatever the hell his name is.

I think what makes the show so bad is that both of their voices, Mark's and Blob's, grate on you to the point that your ears bleed. Fingers on a blackboard. Cat with its tail caught in a blender. Can't stand the voices, let alone the conversations.

I agree with both BGorDeath & Flipper.

The Tom & Tom show was putrid. It was so much worse than Wamer that I did in fact stop listening to it. I couldn't stomach it. It was the only local sports show, but I just did without when they were on the air. Every show was broadcasted from BW-3, and every day it was an adverstisement for BW-3. I've been there. I know they have $3 Jaeger Bombs on certain nights, I know they have good wings, and I know they have lovely waitresses, now please talk about SPORTS! If I wanted to listen to a 2 hour BW-3 Commercial I'd go out and find one on the internet, I expected local sports talk when I tuned in to you two!

Even worse was that when those two were on the Norm & Mark show was on in the mornings. So they also took off the air the Mike & Mike show, which I genuinely enjoy. It's national sports talk, but those guys have a real good chemistry with one another, and it makes for an good show, IMO.

Now they brought Mike & Mike back, and Norm & Mark are in the afternoons. Those two are bad, but they are great in comparison to the Tom & Tom crap. BGorDeath is right though, their voices are horrible. For all Wamer's idiocy its his voice that I hate most. The guy has the face for radio, but the voice for silent film. What I hate most of all is that as much as I hate the show I still listen to it, because its your one chance for possble BGSU sports talk.

They are not voices for radio, nor television. They grate on me. Remember Janice from Friends? Same effect on me.
