The kid from Michigan Metz alluded to is Brian Moten....I've heard he's a very good player. This looksl ike the most talented class Dan's ever recruited.

Rivals has Moten as a *** player.

Here's a link to the Insiders about Moten http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=1528359

Sounds like he could be a real steal. Let's hope so.

As far as the greatest recriuting class ever, I would agree. But when you bring in eight players, it seems like you should do good. Samarco and Moten sound really good. I hope they alll stick together for the next four/five years.

Moten, 6-5, was 5th in MI's class of 2004 Mr. Basketball voting. He averaged 28ppg as a senior and is described as a pure shooter. The schools that offered him out of school were UVA, Auburn, Baylor, and BG.

Wow! He is one whale of a recruit to get so late in the recruiting season.

Although I haven't seen these guys yet, I agree that on paper this is clearly DD's best class yet.

I'm glad Moten is out of the bag. Sometimes it's hard to keep GOOD news quiet. ;-) He's a steal, having been signed at UVA... Much credit to LaMonta Stone and all the staff for getting some exciting young faces!!

This year is going to be fun to watch!! IMO this is what Dakich does best, builds teams... takes parts and puts them together to work as one.

Now as long as he can qualify. Originally he gave his verbal to Virginia but during the winter he didn't qualify at Virginia. Over the spring he got his grades up and decided to come here. Hopefully he can keep his grades in order here.

My favorite part of the article is the following quote “...but kids quit every day. It’s like an epidemic.”

Is it just me...or does this seem to only be an epidemic in the small town of Bowling Green?

falconman, Brian Moten is qualified, will play and is, as noted, a very good player. I am hearing that one prime reason he is at BG is that his parents believe being in a program a little closer to home and one noted for a no nonsense style with an emphasis on personal responsibility will be a great place for their son. I think our coaches have a good reputation for caring persoanlly for the players.

Obviously, he is just a young player and will need experience etc in all phases. But I also hear that the success of professional players like Antonio Daniels (note mention in The USA Todayof his next potential deal), Anthony Stacey in Europe and Keith McLeod was a factor for Brian. Many steps between now and that kind of future, but we wish all eight players and the coaches the best.

We will be young.

Go Falcons!

Yeah, I caught that, too. I wouldn't say its ONLY an epidemic in Bowling Green, but we've caught an especially bad case of it lately.

Let's hope these eight guys host the MAC Trophy over their head. And, let's hope that we get to hear them on the senior day, and that we've recruited guys who will fit in our system. In turn, I hope we don't hear that when one of them leaves "why would we want him, anyway."

The class is very promising, and I'm looking forward to watching it play itself out on the court.

This is all promising news.....and sounds great to my ears. I just hope this is a trend that's going to continue here at BG - the goodd news about hoops. All these players leaving over the years has really just made me sick, whatever all the numerous reasons were.

Moten is a very athletic, very nice pick-up for us . . . But here is the BUT-

I will not say this is the greatest class ever until three questions are answered and one simply cannot be with any accuracy . . .

1) Does Samarco play the point, b/c if he doesn't we didn't upgrade a key position that severely needed an upgrade

2) Who is our power forward? Mawi? Sullivan? Marschall? Holland? We don't have one . . .

3) Who is going to back-up Lefeld? That's the question there's not an answer to . . . You can only play small ball for so long until OU and Akron will feast on us in the post.

10 guys (if you believe Stevie's listing) between 6-3 and 6-8 and not a one of them can play anything outside of the three.

That leaves Floyd, Lefeld and Moon as the other three. I don't buy this as "the greatest recruiting class we've signed" if you have 8 chances to upgrade the point, power forward and center positions and we sign every available 2 and 3 instead. Athletes are nice, don't get me wrong, but rebounds and defense are too.

Tell that to Illinois. They seemed to make it pretty far last season playing small ball. They played a 6'10 center and their primary PF was 6'6. Sure they had some 6'10 back-ups, but a 6'8 F can easily step into center in our league as a back-up.

I'll take a quick athletic team any day. It's something new and not typical of BG in the last few years. You mentioned defense, too. I'm sure all of these guys can play good D or will by the end of summer or they wouldn't be here.

Yeah I understand what you are saying and it would have been nice to see a C/PF get picked up, but I don't think it's going to be as much of a problem as you do.
