Well, a month or two ago I posted a video clip from the team hi-lite film from 1997, Jay L and Antonio's Sr. seasons... Here's another clip, about 2 minutes long... just over a 10MB download. It's in Quicktime again, so if you don't have it, go get it in order to view the clip.

The Clip: http://www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com/downloads/97web3.mov

Quicktime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime

Hope you enjoy... I get goosebumps every time I watch it... especially when they cut out the music and go to 'Tone's voice on the one dunk... DAMN...

If you were around for that era, enjoy the memories. If you never got to see that team play, take the time to watch it now.

Awesome, awesome stuff! The thing that almost brings a tear to my eye is, seeing Antonio walking off the floor in the one clip after getting bounced yet again from the MAC Tournament (which was in Toledo at the SeaGate Center that year). It just reminds me of the fact that that year's team was one of several BG teams in recent years that "should" have gotten into the NCAA Tournament and fell short yet again. Snubbed? Hell ya! To think we had Antonio Daniels and Anthony Stacey on the same 1997 team with the talent they had around them and we still couldn't do it.....it just makes me wonder if we ever will get into the Big Dance again. It's easy to say yes we will, but 1968 was a long time ago. I'm 33 years old, and it hasn't happened in my lifetime!

What's more, we had great teams in 2000 and 2002 that couldn't break through either. I remember the one year, they had ESPN live at BG for the NCAA Tournament selection show (either 2000 or 2002, can't remember which) like they do at several other places.....seeing our kids on national TV hanging their heads after we didn't make it again was just crushing.

I think that was 2002. And I'll never forget Dickie V's rant shortly after about how bad we got hosed on that one. Sure the guy is annoying, but I'll always have a soft spot for him after he stood up for us like that. He was pretty pissed off that we didn't get in that year as were most of us. I almost broke my parents' TV that weekend between our nailbiter loss to KSU in the final and then not getting an at-large.

Yeah, it was 2002 now that I think about it. And like you said, Dickie V was all over the selection committee about both BG and Butler not getting in. Then, we end up facing each other in the first round of the NIT! Of course, we had to go on the road, we played well early on, then ended up losing to a very good Butler team. It was such a sad way to see our season end, as was getting hammered by BYU in 2000 and losing a game we basically led the entire way in 1997 to West Virginia in the NITs as well.

About 1/3 into the video, is that lil Howard Chambers ripping the ball from someone's hands? Could be Moore but I can't tell!

If it's the clip I am thinking about too, yes, that's him.....and you can see me and my friend Jeff in the student section in the background laughing as he did it. It was vs. WMU, and I won the Falcon Club 50-50 that night! It was awesome!!!

Yeah, that appears to be WMU! That guy was awesome...I and people complain the team we have now is too short. Chambers was 5'6!
