From the Plain Dealer:

Word is, the Cavs expressed interest in working out Utah Jazz point guard Keith McLeod, who's a restricted free agent. A former Canton McKinley High and Bowling Green star, McLeod started 47 games for Utah last season. The Jazz said they want to re-sign him.

Not to temper our excitement about this, but the author of that info was none other than Roger Brown.

Regardless, it would be nice to see Keith play for the Cavs.

The Toronto Raptors are apparently in the mix of teams interested in acquiring the services of Keith McLeod.

Well the Raptors really want Chris Duhon from the Bulls. They already gave him an offer sheet to sign. But it doesn't look like he will be signed in Toronto because the Bulls have already said that they would match any offer. So it appears that the next person in line would be Keith. Hopefully he gets a shot somewhere.

Bulls match Duhon's offer

August 15, 2005, 12:33 PM CDT

Chris Duhon will be back in a Bulls uniform next season after the team chose Monday to match an offer sheet Duhon had signed with the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors had reportedly offered Duhon a 3-year deal worth just under $10 million. The restricted free agent out of Duke played for the NBA minimum of $385,277 as a rookie last season. Bulls general manager John Paxson's initial offer to Duhon was for three years in the $6 million range.

Duhon (6-1, 185) averaged 5.0 points and 4.9 assists per game as a rookie. He was one of only two Bulls to appear in all 82 games during the 2004-05 season.

"Chris was an integral part of our success last season and we're excited to have him back," said Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson in a statement from the team. "The opportunity to retain our continuity and see our young team grow together has been a key offseason focus for us, and this is a step in that direction."

Earl Watson, Brevin Kinght and Dan Dickau are all still out there. I dont expect McLeod to find a home until after all 3 do.

Brevin Knight resigned with Charlotte. One less player in hte market but no less Suitors. I am surprised Brevin returned to Charlotte being that Raymond Felton will be starting at PG.

Right now there are so many teams without a starting PG that I would imagine he will be back with a team very soon.

The Lakers may be a nice fit even. Imagine McLeod as the starting PG next to Kobe. THe Cavs option is even more exciting. He may be an ideal spot up threat for the cavs. A team in desperate need of outside shooting.

The way McLeod can score he could end up being the 1 guard/2 guard backup off the bench brought in as a catalyst for any number of teams. But I think he is much better served honing his PG skills

Dan Dickau went to the Celtics.

The Lakers were looking at both he and Janero Pargo.

It seems to me that the short list for PG's is or should be

Earl Watson
Janerro Pargo
Kieth McLeod.

Keith's agent is based here in Cleveland and is a friend of mine, and unfortunately he has had very little interest from the Cavs. The Cavs are waiting on Damon Jones to make a decision. Jones is also represented by my friend's agency. It will be interesting to see how this works out with Keith and Damon represented by the same person.

The Cavs have Jones as number one on their wish list. They have about $3.5 million of salary cap to play with yet for 05-06. Damon would prefer to return to Miami, where he is good friends with Shack and would have a chance to go deep into the playoffs again. However, the signing of "White Chocolate" Williams meaans he will be pressed for a starting job and playing time if her returns there.

If Jones doesn't make it to Cleveland, I think Keith might be a great second option for them. Keith made $900,000 last year, so he would fit nicely under thier salary cap. Plus, he would only have Eric Snow standing between him and a starting job. I am tired of watching Erie Snow try and run the point for the Cavs. Keith would have a great shot at being an impact player next year for the Cavs.

Lets hope it works out for the best for Keith.
