Recruiting for 05-06 ?

Post by BleedOrange »

DD has 5 scholarships to give away. I've seen very little on the recruiting front about us. Now is about the time that kids starting giving verbals for the Fall Signing Period. Interestingly, WMU has 4 verbels from 4 very strong players.

Anybody know how we're doing?

The only one we appear to be at the top of the wishlist for is Pat Nelson . . . listed at 6-9 . . . In a dream world we would get Chandler and the Mullins kid from Illinois.

I think he projects as an athletic 3. I saw him this past year a few times. Nothing extraordinary sticks out . . . However, coming from Moeller, like them or not, the kids are there for a reason . . . They've been recruited b/c they're GOOD.

Interesting. Athletic 3 is a big need for us, right?

BG roundball "needs"

Post by Class of 61 »

From the sound of what has happened over the past few months, ANY position is an "area of need" for us. A few good kids returning, but no real depth in my opinion...

I don't think we should worry about who we recruit until they've been here at least a couple of years. (Ron Lewis aside)

Falcons lose out on two kids recently . . . The SIU one we've known about for awhile . . . Yeazel to CMich and the Moeller kid has spurned an offer to go to Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Coach Bruce Pearl.

You can say there might be no depth and I realize that it's your opinion, but I'm not going to judge them until I see the first few games. Despite past years, DD knows basketball and if he can get these guys playing the game correctly and most of all as a team, then they could suprise some people this year. But like I said, until they play a few games, I wouldn't count anything out yet.

Recruite what you can with what you have. It doesn't have to be a team of one or two or even three stars, I'll settle for a bunch of coachable guys that can stay focused like lasers.
