.....they picked us 4th in the MAC West "WITH" Ron Lewis on the roster. Well, we all know that will not be the case for BG this year and I am sure this publication was pretty much set to go to print before he decided to transfer. Here is a rundown of how they picked the MAC.
MAC West:
1. Toledo - NCAA Tournament
2. Ball State
3. Eastern Michigan
4. Bowling Green
5. Western Michigan
6. Northern Illinois
7. Central Michigan
MAC East:
1. Buffalo - NIT
2. Kent State - NIT
3. Miami
4. Marshall
5. Akron
6. Ohio
All-MAC Team:
Keith Triplett - Toledo - MAC POTY
Turner Battle - Buffalo
Ron Lewis - Bowling Green - Scatch this selection!
Ben Reed - Western Michigan
DeAndre Haynes - Kent State
I was about to post almost the same thing . . . I noticed the Athlon preview at the BG (s)mall last night.
I think they are close with the MAC East . . . Until someone knocks off Kent, my money is still on them, but they did take a pretty decent graduation hit . . . Nevertheless I would say this:
1. Kent
2. Buffalo, on the rise and a good class coming in . . .
3. Marshall, former UGA coach Ron Jirsa takes over and brings athletes with him
4. Miami, Jesus Twins will be effective, if they play, but it's still Charlie's team . . .
5. Akron, no PG, no presence down low, but Jerimiah Wood and Romeo on the break
6. Ohio, recruits have upgraded the athleticism, but the only guy as inconsistent as Charlie and Stan is Tim O'Shea.
For the West, I don't agree with their picks at all . . .
1. UT, face it boys and girls . . . they're loaded. I'm not sure Stan can outcoach himself here . . .
2. Eastern, all kinds of athletes and a ridiculous recruiting class. They could be playing for Boone's job and won't notice that JaQuan isn't around anymore.
3. Western, no Mike Williams, but a bunch of solidly coached guys and athletes galore on the way.
4. Ball State, Peyton Stovall is good, but not that good to push the Cardinals to second. I think they're still a year away.
5. Northern, again everyone coming in is 6-5 and can shoot or built like a bricksh*t house . . . An off year last year, but they have too many horses for us.
6. Bowling Green, I'm not sure if we're here or in seventh, but I'll be optimistic and put us here. Soler is a nice addition, but he won't get the minutes we need to guard everyone else's 3s . . . I'm not buying Robinson until I see him play and Almanson and Eyink are like a thermometer in BG in November . . . Cold and a little warmer, but mostly lukewarm. . . Both could be stars . . . Wright's a scorer, but not a shooter, same story different guy.
7. Central, I really don't know . . . They're awfully young, so who knows . . .
