Same story, different magazine….BG was picked last in the MAC East. They did have BG’s recruiting class ranked #2 in the MAC though and had Lionel Sullivan listed as the top impact freshman. It also had Dan Dakich listed as the most volatile coach. Here’s the breakdown:

We can't expect to be chosen for a high finish with the turnover we've had. This is good, because we're breaking in a lot of new talent, and unrealistically high expectations won't help freshmen adjust.

With the amount of raw new talent in the program, this will be a very fun year. I have faith the a .500 season is realistic. However, I'm very worried about our severe lack of depth in the post. We can afford NO injuries or foul problems with our frontliners.

.500 is a good goal. What about doing what OU did under similar circumstances last year?

I don't care where we're picked by the "pundits". I figure on hitting Anderson Arena quite frequently this year to enjoy those comfortable seats, delicious concessions and plush, modern restrooms.

Seeing a little hoops will be the cherry on the sundae....

To do what OU did last year, Sullivan or Marcshall would need to become an All-MAC calibre post player very quickly (as William did last year). It's possible, but difficult. I'm more comfortable in the likelihood that Moten and Samarco will emerge early.

TOS pulled his rear out of the fire last years with an outstanding recruiting year. OU's crop of newcomers last years had as big of an impact as I've ever seen for a recruiting class in this conference.



When it comes right down to it, the writers for these magazines don't know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to MAC hoops. They fill column inches with token, boilerplate articles that say nothing and aren't worth reading. The league's message boards are a far better source of info, but you must filter what you read.

Doesn't take a genius to realize that a lack of size will hold a team back. We're going to be playing a lot of transition I hope.

I here ya about the preseason magazines. posted about the upcoming football game between BG and Ohio and had to explore your hoops page. Last year we were picked dead last and look what happened. BGSU shouldn't be that bad. Playing in Anderson is good for atleast 7 wins and if BGSU wins a couple of road games 9-9 is very likely again. The east division is loaded. NIU in the west, did I read that right in those predictions. That's a surprise with what Toledo, WMU and BSU still have left.

It works for me. Doesn't matter how bad the team is, I'll be there to see the dance team at halftime & the cheerleaders throughout the game

The East is gonna be brutal these days...When you see people picking Kent State 3rd or 4th?

I would pick BG last too. What else can you base it on except last year. And our top 2 players are gone.

We will have a 20 win season.

That's about as good of a prediction as the people who do preseason hoopla, but in the end, my prediction will be closer.

There will be growing pains with such a big transition. Ia m alright with the growing pains because I think we are built for success as early as next season. Add a Juco C and we should be fine.
