Tuesday morning, getting ready for work and just heard on the morning news that Ryan Simms has indeed committed to BG. Earlier comments, notwithstanding, here's hoping the best for him and the falcon hoops program. Nice kid, hope Dan can get the best out of him. Will be interesting to see his dad on the sidelines for a change.

The impression I get from this article is that Ryan Sims was not only impressed by Dakich and the team, but also the Homecoming atmosphere this past weekend. He committed shortly after visiting this past weekend, which I don't believe is a coincidence.

Also, the below excerpt is just another example of the Dakich charm.

“They had a coach at just about every game he played this summer. They followed him around the country,” Ray Sims said. “Dan Dakich made a home visit a couple of weeks ago. He was very to the point. He let Ryan know right away what to expect. He did not pull any punches. My wife fell in love with him right away. Matter of fact, my wife prepared a meal that day and I knew something was up because I was able to get a home-cooked meal that day.”

That is great to hear. Very to the point and did not pull any punches. This is one of the things I love about Coach D. You won't get any BS.

Best of luck to Ryan!

The only thing I worry about is.....

Do we need another pg at this point? If there is a position we need to fill badly its either a power forward or a center plain and simple. After Holland we got nobody at power forward except for Marshall. Why we offered a pg is beyond me at our currant roster situation.

It doesn't matter who we need when someone this good comes around.

Exactly...When you can get a player to come here that has Big 10 talent (Indiana, Illinois, MSU were taking a look at this kid) you don't care what position he plays.

I don't think we have a player on this team that deserves the starting job out right. Hopefully that will change this year. If you have watched the team at all the past few seasons we haven't exactly had a good ball handler or someone smart with the ball running the point.

With all due respect, this young man (in my considered opinion after watching him play numerous times) is NOT a point guard. Ryan has always looked to "shoot first" and then look to someone else if the shot is not there. Don't get me wrong....if he is "on", he can really light it up!! Let's hope he does just that while playing for the Falcons!

I kind of thought he sounded like a 2.

Well then if this kid truley does have B10 talent and was recruited by Indy, Illinois and MSU than okay then, but I thought Samarco and Darrel Clements were pg's too.

Samarco sounds more like a small 2

I'm sure Dan Dakich will sleep better tonight knowing that he has your blessing.

Good article ->

http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentin ... 815443.htm

This kid seems very good, grounded guy, unlike some of the attitudes that have arrived from Columbus (and elsewhere) in recent years.

Currently, we have nobody on our roster who has proven to be an effective, all-around D1 point guard. Robinson might become that guy, but he's done growing. Samarco also might, if DD plays him there.

A shoot-first point guard is OK if his all-around decision making is good. Furthermore, that tendency is likely to be tempered under DD's system anyway. The important point is that he is a shooter. There's no substitute for good shooting.
