Come on guys!!! It's sad when it's three days.......
......before our season-opener, and the hot topic on our board is Ron Lewis! Let's get fired up and talk about some BG hoops! We're about to start play in a tournament on Thursday and have three games in the event. Any word as to how Steven Wright is doing and if there's a chance he can play this week?
GO BG!!!

I would bet that Steven Wright would not play in these games. As of yesterday, I know he still has not participated in any practice. As for this tournament, I don't see us winning a game. I am not down on the team or being negative, but given this teams circumstances, I would be happy with two division one wins going into the MAC season in January. Three games in four days will be an eye opener to the group of newcomers.

I think you are not giving this group much credit at all. Just because we have quite a few freshman on this team doesn't mean that we are not going to win more than two DI games before conference. There have been other teams that have started and played quite a few underclassmen and been successful, so let's not be down on this group before the season starts. It's ridiculous to start out with a loser mentality before the boys get going. With that attitude, what would you think attendance would be like at home games? That's the kind of attitude that our fans are not supposed to have, and to have that attitude and little faith in our team is for somewhere else. I for one wish I could be there to see a game and watch our young talent develop. From the things that I have heard from you guys, this young group might just be something special. Let's give them a chance and see what happens.

Exactly HF, I believe OU played two freshman and a sophomore last year in their championship year. Let's not write off BG before the season even gets underway just because they are young. Dakich will have the team ready to play.HoustonFalcon wrote:There have been other teams that have started and played quite a few underclassmen and been successful, so let's not be down on this group before the season starts.
Even if they lose, these will be close games. I don't care how many freshmen we have, the only way to get used to basketball at this level is to play. With these first 3 tourney games, they are going to get some great experience. I have no doubt they will be ready by the time the tourney is over if they aren't when it starts.UK Peregrine wrote: Exactly HF, I believe OU played two freshman and a sophomore last year in their championship year. Re: Come on guys!!! It's sad when it's three days.......
Hey, sometimes the truth hurts. It's a fact that BG has suffered six consecutive losses to Miami in football. The last time BG beat Miami in football, I was a junior in college. I saw us beat them, but it's hard to remember what it was like since it was almost 10 years ago. I am a full believer of seeing is believing when it comes to this game.....kind of like BG basketball getting to the NCAA Tournament. And 1968 was several years before I was even born. Do I hope BG beats Miami in football? Hell ya! Do I think we will? Sadly, probably not. But I can't fault myself for doubting after our recent history, but I sure as hell would love to be wrong! I love being wrong about that stuff.Metz wrote:Been too busy reading your multiple posts about BG losing to Miami in the football forumsBGSU33 wrote:......before our season-opener, and the hot topic on our board is Ron Lewis! But back to hoops....I know we are still very young, but I still think we can beat Western Carolina and Radford. I can't see us hanging with Virginia Tech. If we come out of Blacksburg 2-1, it will be a very good trip to Virginia for us.
GO BG!!!
Like Flipper said, it's pretty hard to make any kind of judgement on this team when there are so many people on it that none of has have ever watched play. Off the cuff you have to say that we'll struggle early in the season, simply because of all the new faces.
I don't have real high expectations for this season, but if we can improve over the course of the year to the point that we're competing for the MAC tourney title, I'll be happy.
