No Luck for Va. Tech

Post by BGGrad01 »

Sorry if this should be in the "Other Schools" forum, but I felt that it applied since it relates to one of our opponents (and only I-A win to this point).

Va. Tech got a tip-in with less than 2 seconds to go to take a 1 point lead at Duke tonight. Duke in bounded the ball to near half court, one dribble, and a 35 foot shot by Dockery went in. I don't know that a team has ever had worse luck at the buzzer at the beginning of a season than Va. Tech has in the first 5 games of this year. Great game overall, though. Having watched Va. Tech play twice now (at Ohio State last week also), they are a solid team. Perhaps a tournament team.

wow, that was a great game. Duke has the magic at Cameron. Our win over Va Tech remains inexplicable.

I wouldn't consider tOSU to be a tournament team and they handled Va Tech for a good portion of the second half. The ACC is as competitive as it has been lately and I just don't see them getting in the NCAAs. If you're thinking they are a NIT Tournament team, I think I might be able to buy that argument, but time will tell. I think it's great that they gave the Dukies such a great game tonight. I think Duke is one of the worse #1s I've seen in recent memory. Coach K should thank his lucky stars for some "generous" officiating at the end of the Memphis game, b/c that's the best team I've seen all year, regardless of what the result was.
