Ohio vs. Cincinnati now on TV
For those of you interested in seeing MAC hoops on TV, the Ohio vs. Cincinnati game will be shown on ONN on Wednesday night at 8:00 PM. Ohio is 4-0 and looking as good as advertised early on this season. I would not be surprised at all to see Ohio beat Cincinnati, or Kentucky, who they play on the 30th on ESPN2.

The UC-OU game should be a good one that OU has a very real chance to win. As for the UK game, I fully expect OU to beat UK, especially since it is being played on a pseudoneutral court in Cincinnati. (The reason I say pseudoneutral is because UK fans packed the arena when they played Ball State there last season, granted Athens isn't to far away.) UK is very vulnerable, as anyone who saw the UK-IU game would have noticed. UK is undersized and really isn't that good of perimeter shooting team. I'll undoubtedly be pulling for the MAC.BGSU33 wrote: I would not be surprised at all to see Ohio beat Cincinnati, or Kentucky, who they play on the 30th on ESPN2.
Yeah, neither UC or UK look great this year, and it will be intersting to see how OU does against both. The thing is, whether or not Ohio wins either of these games, they will be a force in the MAC, that's for sure. Like BG in football, everyone has tabbed Ohio to win the MAC in hoops....and they should. The scary thing with Ohio basketball is, Ohio is just LOADED with young talent and is going to be a force in the MAC for years to come. We're going to be hearing about OU hoops until we're sick of it.

The Big Blue Nation would up and die if OU beats UK. That would be two losses to a MAC school in two years (1 football, 1 basketball). People would be calling for Tubby's head. I have already heard a good deal of grumbling around town. With the success people expect down here, if he doesn't have them back to the final four in the next two years, he's out.

Well, the Big Blue Nation better brace themselves then, because if UK plays anything like they did against IU against Ohio, they will lose. I'm not saying Ohio will beat UK, but UK is going to have to play a very good game to beat Ohio, because you know the Bobcats are lickin' their chops at a chance to win this one. I have been unimpressed with what I've seen out of UK in the two games I've watched (Iowa and Indiana). Granted, those are two good teams, but UK needs to shore up a lot of areas or they're going to have a long season. My fiancee is a big UK fan (both her parents went there) and she's got me watching the Cats any time they are on. I also have a friend who works in the athletic department there too, so I try to stay up on my UK hoops.PGY Tiercel wrote:The Big Blue Nation would up and die if OU beats UK. Cincy beat OU tonight by 28... I'm sure they'll still be a force when the MAC comes around, but whoa.

Yeah, I watched the game myself. Ohio played Cincy straight up in the first half and only trailed by a point at the half, but hit a wall in the second half. But when the Bobcats are playing well, like when they went on a 20-4 run in the first half of this game, man do they look scary. Despite this loss, they are a very, very talented team and are the best in the MAC. They will be "the" team to beat in the MAC and I fully expect them to play much, much better against Kentucky. I'll be watching, that game is on ESPN2.TG1996 wrote:Cincy beat OU tonight by 28... I'm sure they'll still be a force when the MAC comes around, but whoa.

I was at the OSU game tonight (please don't yell at me!) and the only update I had was that OU was down 1 at the half. Needless to say, I was shocked to read the above post. I realize that this game was at Cincinnati and the Shoe isn't the easiest place to win, but 28 points is really disappointing. These aren't the Cincinnati Bearcats of the last 10-13 years, either. They showed flashes against Memphis in a loss, but they loss to Dayton AT HOME. They're going to be a bubble team at best at year-end. You can't lose to another bubble team by almost 30 and expect a bid (if they lose in the MAC tourney). They may need to beat Kentucky now to have any reasonable shot of an at-large bid IMO.TG1996 wrote:Cincy beat OU tonight by 28... What happened was, Ohio got behind by about 10 shortly into the second half and then started playing a little out of control and then everything snowballed. Also, right about that same time, Leon Williams was forced to sit on the bench with four fouls and Jeremy Fears was still scoreless, and then the wheels just came of. It was just one of those games, like in 2000 when BG started the season 6-1 and then got destoyed by a so-so West Virginia team 100-54. We were a very good team that year and finished 22-8, got snubbed by the NCAA again, and went to the NIT. Whether it was one point or 50 points, a loss is a loss. Ohio will be fine and whether they beat Kentucky or not, they will be the team to beat in the MAC. They are just so athletic and have so many weapons inside, midrange and outside. I think if they don't win the MAC Tournament, they could be a team that gets the elusive at-large bid from the MAC. We'll have to see, but I'll be in BG on February 4th to hopefully see BG beat them!BGGrad01 wrote:I was at the OSU game tonight (please don't yell at me!) and the only update I had was that OU was down 1 at the half. In my opinion that was a cheap article by Greg Doyle. This is college not the NBA. I thought he went over the top with some of his comments. OU will be solid but I'm not conviced they are the best team in the MAC. If Miami get Polliz back from his knee injury (2-3 games as reported by Miami U) they will be very soild. Great defense, that wins games in the MAC. I think Northern IL. is very soild as well, they play a good UIC team followed by Kansas St. that should tell us something. OU had a great run last year in March but they didn't play that well as a team much of last year. If they don't play better defense they will be luckey to be 11-7 in the MAC. As for BG I say 9-9
God, what an annoying article to read.
