Not a bad article. Katz is probably right on most of his points, although I found the discrediting of EMU's win over Cal to be a little unnecessary. Afterall, EMU did beat Cal at home, which kind of unintentionally shows his other point of "what could happen if the big boys actually ever came to a MAC venue," even if it was lowly EMU's. If the bad MAC teams can knock off a good Pac10 team at home, just think who Ohio, Buffalo and others could beat if they could get someone to come to their ball courts.

A little birdie told me that we turned down a home-and-home with Oregon State starting this year because Dakich preferred to play Urbana.

If true, then I guess we can't complain about this anymore in regard to BG (other than re-directing the complaints to the people in charge of BG basketball who've told us for years that they can't get anybody to play at Anderson).

Turned down a home-and-home with Oregon State? Why the hell did we not agree to that?

I heard it's a reaction to the years when we ended up on the wrong side of the bubble for the NCAA tourney. We weren't given credit for the tough OOC schedule in those years, so we'd prefer going more toward the cupcake-style OOC.

Not sure I agree that's true given we played VA Tech and Florida State this year....

Funny enough, I was just in both Corvallis, Oregon and Eugene, Oregon this past summer and visited both Oregon State and Oregon. While I as there, I was thinking to myself how it would be cool if BG played either football or basketball out there sometime soon. I loved the University of Oregon and McArthur Court and Autzen Stadium are flat-out awesome! They are two of my favorite facilities in either sport. Oregon State was okay in my opinion, I just liked Oregon a lot better. But it would have been cool to get a home-and-home with OSU, I would have even went to Corvallis for the game. I really liked the state of Oregon (if you can't tell). :D

Not sure if this had any bearing on the talks with the Beavers, but our Assoc. AD - Finance left BG last year and he went to Oregon State's Athletic Department in the same capacity.
