Seth Davis had a good bullet point in his most recent Hoop Thoughts column on SportsIllustrated.com. Thought I'd share it because I think many Falcon fans would agree.
•Good fans cheer loudly when their team makes a run. Great fans cheer loudly to help their team make a run. Any questions?

I would totally agree with that. It makes you wonder what rates our students lately this year as fans. Gosh it took Martin Samarco and DD pumping their arms up freneticly to get the fans into it with 2 min. or less to go. We never used to have to have the coach or a player beseech the crowd to get into the game , they just were. All or most of the students from seasons past would all be standing and would be loud for most of the game.
It was weird , the students this year just look so passive like I've never seen and I've seen alot of games in Anderson in my life. My theory is that it might have started with football this last season with students repeatedly asked to sit down cuz of complaints of elderly or other passive fans who can't bear to stand in the slightest while cheering your team on.
Are the students suddenly afraid to really get into the games these days because of this or what? Or is it just that the students don't have any expectations at all for the team and would be alot more vocal if we had a really good record heading into Mac play? I have no real answer for this. I hope we can get the Anderson Arena of old back soon.

falconboy, I don't mean to be an ass, but how can you question the behavior of fans when you show up to every game at halftime to dodge buying a ticket?

Memo to you Hammb , students get in for FREE and I'm not a student. For studets is just so easy, just show your student ID and walk in. $9 is presently alot for me at this time , trying to save a little and also focusing my BG athletics money on the women this year. Like I said in a another thread , I wouldn't belittle you if you wanted to come at halftime to see the ladies play. I've given you a break why not send one back eh? :-\ Give me a buch of cash you find laying around and I'll go to all the BG sporting events you want.

I'm not here to tell anyone how to spend their hard earned money. It just bugs me that you complain about crowd numbers and participation when you yourself don't come until halftime. If you cannot afford to come and pay, that's fine, and I'm glad you're there at all, but I guess don't complain when others aren't showing up at all, ya know?
As for me, I'm not a student and haven't been for almost 4 full years now...WOW, I'm getting old. I pay my $9 for each game...

Falconboy: not everyone is a basketball fan. The sooner you realize this the sooner you'll chill out.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the game sunday
My family postponed our Christmas get together until my brother could come home. Well he finally made it home, and for some reason they scheduled this little get together for Sunday afternoon. Kind of baffling knowing that some of my family members have season tickets, and don't like to miss games.
Oh well...I'm usually bad luck against UT anyhow. I didn't go to last year's UT game and we won, so hopefully that trend will continue.
