I've posted a couple of updates at MAC Report Online under a new weekly feature we are calling MAC Hoopla (damn, that's soooo clever and original, isn't it?).

Anyway, in this week's MAC Hoopla we have the following stories:

Eastern Bloc Dominates West (East 21-4 vs West)
MAC Tournament Changes (Four teams will recevie 1st round byes)
Home Cookin' (Home Court a major advantage in the MAC)
Non-Conference Records (vs other conferences)
Record-Shattering Starts (Fast Starts by several squads)
Legends Honored (Two legends...one at EMU, one at Ohio)
The Coaching Hot Seat (Three coaches whose resumes may need updating)
Individual Statistical Leaders
This Week's MAC Schedule

If that's not enough, I have also posted our updated, through January 15, composite RPI rankings for each school and the conference as well. Just click this link: Composite RPI

OK, this one baffles me and it really looks awful this year ...
"the top two teams in each division will receive first-round byes and open MAC Tournament play at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland in the quarterfinal round."

So, if I read this correctly, only two of Miami, Ohio, Akron, and Kent will get a first round bye while someone like Toledo or Western would get one? Can that be correct? Shouldn't it be the two divisional winners plus that next two best records regardless of division?

Hell, if Temple was in the MAC for BB, the conference would probably automatically give them a bye to the championship game!

Actually, I made a correction to that piece. The two division winners will still receive first round byes, but it will be the OVERALL 3rd and 4th seeds that will also receive byes, not the top two teams in each division. Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks for the clarification. I, honestly, wasn't sure which route they were going, but giving the byes to the winners, and then the overal 3 & 4 makes the most sense.
