Big night for BG!

Just got in from Kent and Wow is all I can say. Very solid effort tonight! someone who has some time, check and see what the record is in the NCAA for highest FT % for a game. 34/35 I don't think I will ever see that again. BG play much of the second half with Ledfled and Marchall on the bench. Defense was very good, we still fouled alot but so did they. Kent's foul shooting hurt them. We still had issues with our offense in the half court set. But let's stay positive this team can play and compete in this conference. Kent had an off night but we had alot to do with it. I would say BG had maybe 20 fans there. Let's get at least 2500 for Sundays game!
Hammb I hate to do this to you but I must, I've given you credit on some good stuff but now here is some on your bad "Looking at our schedule this year we may not win 3 more games this season. I keep reading on here that we can compete for a home tourney game because the West is so bad. Problem is that those west teams get to play each other over and over again. Those horrible west teams are the same ones that we could only manage a 3-3 record against thus far. Now we must play teams like Ohio, Miami, Akron, & Kent twice, with one more against UB as well. Our only crossover games left are @ Toledo, which is always tough, and EMU at home. That EMU is the only game on our schedule which I would say we SHOULD win, but we will probably win at least one more in there somewhere. " The band wagon has stopped jump on Hammb!

I forget to tell you guys after the game DD came over and started talking to some of the fans when a small fight broke out as BG went into the locker room. It looked like Nate Gerwin, the big center that has been at Kent for 8 or 9 years was in the middle of it. I think he was pissed because BG shut him out. They also held Youngblood to 5 points, 10 below his average. This pushing and pulling match after the game didn't last more than 15 or 20 seconds, not a huge deal but this was a hard physical game. Kent's teeth will be very sharp when they come to BG. I wish some of you were here tonight to see this upset. The glass is now half full again. Soler play huge tonight! He made 13 foul shots that hit nothing but net! I kid you not!
Good Night All, Go BG!

for the record (pun only half intended...), the 34-35 (97.1%) FT effort smashed the old record of 18-19 (94.7%) set 16 years ago...... at Kent.

They definitely stole one last night. Great effort by everyone, especially Soler. Huge clutch with a couple big boards and great FT shooting down the stretch.
I still stand by my comments that I made. If they can play like that more often I'll certainly be thrilled to be wrong, but I think what I've seen so far this season made last night look more like an aberration than the norm.

Hammb makes a great point. Now the team knows what they're capable of playing and needs to bring that every night...cuz they'll need it every night. We can't afford a letdown cuz the Akron Zips are playing very well. ..and beat us in our house last year, 71-69. If last night's BG team shows up the rest of the way, this is gonna be a wild ride.
Thanks for the report. Man, I wish I had been there!

Okay, so I guess this wasn't true. The media guide doesn't have the 25-for-25 game last year vs. EMU listed. As far as games where we shot more than 30 FT's, this one was the best effort. Overall, the game at Eastern last year was.

HAHAHA, I just noticed OHIOBobkitty wasn't around last night, and I don't see him around anywhere today. I wonder why that could be?

"The Falcons then started playing a small, athletic lineup, partly because Matt Lefeld and Erik Marschall got into foul trouble. Soler and Martin Samarco played all but one minute, and freshman Brian Moten was in the game for a season-high 21 minutes."
From the ToledoBlade
I like that athletic lineup, keep that going Dakich
Beat Akron, shut down Romeo!!!

It's very strange to me that this is the same thing the hockey team is going through. The talent is there. They just have to believe and bring it 110% every game.

I was in the stands as well, with my little girl. 20 fans at least. BG seems to have a very solid undercurrent of support in NE Ohio. This is just my observation from living here for the past 10 years.
I was extremely pleased to see Moten play so much. With each game, I'm expecting to see visible improvement in his movement without the ball in the half court sets. He's still learning the offense.
I sensed that Kent defenders were actually targeting Floyd with extra pressure on the perimeter. Floyd held it togethor relatively well in the second half, except for the time when got beat back door on the baseline by Gates
