..we aren't suppose to live in the past, but I just got done watching Ohio State and Iowa and I can't help but wonder what we could have accomplished this year if Ron Lewis and Scott Vandermeer were still on this team?

Granted, it would have to be the Ron Lewis with his head screwed on right, but would we be a better team? Maybe the development of Samarco and Lefeld wouldn't have happen if they were on the team? Maybe some of Lewis' selfish habits would have been a bad role model for the younger guys? Still it would have been interesting to have another scorer like Lewis and shot blocker/rebounder like Vandermeer on this team.

You're not alone Rollo83, I wonder the same thing every time after I see an Ohio State game and box score. Ron Lewis is a very good talent. It's a shame guys like him and Vandermeer as you mentioned aren't at BG this year. We "could" have been a much better team with them, stressing the word could in many ways. I just hope our days of watching all these guys transfer are over. I'm not saying it won't ever happen, but you know what I mean.

After watching Lewis tonight, I'd have to say we could have accomplished a lot more stupid fouls and forced 3's. He looked like an athletic John Floyd tonight, except for the whole yelling at his teammates in the huddle thing. I would much rather have Vandermeer back, pansy-ass and all.

just little info on our former player vandermeer he is enrollerd at uic and on the team but cannot practice due to a previously unoticed heart condition I got this info from the man himself as I speak with him often. He loves the basketball team and wishes he could contribute but misses bowling green all the same he says. Just thought i would drop that knowledge on you guy as you talk about what ifs. because if he was still here we would be wasting a scollie for the next 3 years.

I missed the game, but saw that he had 19 points. Is he still zoning out on defense, missing the open man, and generally playing in a fog like he did when he was at BG?

Honestly, I don't think Vandermeer and Lewis would be adding much to our win totals. With Lewis, he scored, but there were so many trade-offs. He's just a dumb overall player. Vandermeer was an ordinary player at best. All that he would be doing for us would be adding depth in the post.

Let OSU have his "I wanna go to the NBA" me first attitude. Yes he is a heck of an offensive power but defense? Please. I watched some of that game and he still plays no D.

If a guy can't buy into the T E A M concept, we're better off without him, IMO.

What's funny about Lewis's situation is that next year, at best, he'll split time with freshman. Dequan Cook is considered the #1 or #2 high school WG in the nation this year. It's hard to imagine Cook not playing 30 mpg at OSU next year. Furthermore, David Lighty, another wing, is a top 50 recruit who'll compete for time. On top of that, 6-1 Mike Conley, a national top 10 recruit, will push for major minutes on the perimeter. Foster and Butler will return to compete for minutes as well.

OSU is the very last place in the world Ron Lewis wants to be next year as a senior of he to get noticed by NBA scouts. Lewis made the worst possible decision if he wanted a pro career.
