I never really expected us to come back in the 2nd half today. But when we did, it got really crazy inside Anderson Arena. If only we could have won it in regulation, because overtime doesn't suit us well at all, and it showed. Why did Dakich have to put Floyd back in the game?! We were doing great with him on the bench, he comes in and the offense stagnated in OT. Plus, that was a nice hold the ball-then travel with 15 seconds left that sealed it.

What was he doing???? Even the Akron announcers couldn't believe he was just holding the ball like that?

I don't like to criticize a player but for the love of Harold Anderson, what is it about Floyd? I don't understand his style of play.

Can someone please enlighten me about him?

If you survey posts from over the past few weeks, you'll see that people have been coming out of the woodwork to rip Floyd. NOBODY understands why he sees the court. It's a mystery.

Should we have Grant ask Paul to "ask Dan" why?

Another dagger, just a dagger to the heart. If we could stop digging huige holes in the first half like against Buffalo and today against Akron, we could really be helping ourselves out. Unlike the poll in another post that shows most people on here don't mind close losses, I can't stand them. Especially when they are in the conference, at home and in OT. This will eat at me the rest of the night.

I understand it's no consolation, because the hole they were in was too big, but I was very shocked and proud to see they had cut to five after being down by as many as 17 (?).

Tough loss, indeed. It's crazy to follow this conference every year, the way everyone beats up on everyone else all season. That, though, is why I get renewed hope every March. If someone can catch fire, or if they can get consistent for three straight....

Floyd's style of play is simple. He is a poor passer who doesn't see the court well. He's also a bad shooter who likes to shoot. He combines those abilities with being the slowest player in the MAC on defense. Throw in a dash of bad handles and no hops and you've got the worst major minutes player in the conference bar none.

The absolute ONLY compliment you can give him is that he gives 100% effort on the court.

I have no idea what Dan was thinking down the stretch today. Moten was not playing well, but the ONLY time our offense had any fluidity was when Moten was playing the wing so that Wright could play point. Wright is more of a 2 than a 1, but he's the best PG we have, so we need him getting more minutes there. Moten's best contribution today was that Moon & Floyd were both on the bench during his minutes.

Between Floyd & Dusan it's quite a battle to see which one of them least deserves a D1 schollie. At least one of them is a freshman.

I'm afraid you are right. We need Wright at point. I know he's not the best point in the world, but he's the best we have.

Floyd would have been a great DII player.

Well said again Hammb, I've said all I can about Floyd, look at his stats today, zero assist and 3 turnovers. His effort is ALWAYS there but his game isn't. I watched him play a solid game at Kent but his luckey 35 footer saved us. The reason it was a 35 footed because he couldn't creat a offense himself and he let the shot clock run nearly out. Our run came with this lineup: Samarco, Wright, Moten, Marschall and Ledfeld. Wright ran the point and did a solid job. I think DD is a good coach but his reasoning for playing Floyd has to be questioned. The kid should be a backup at best. When this team play two halfs they can and will beat anyone in this league. I have now seen every team play in the MAC either on TV or in person and I have no doubt we can beat any of them. I think Akron followed closely by Kent, Miami and Ohio are the best. I would not be surprised if we beat Miami at there place on Weds.

GO BG!!!

I do think Dusan has some skill, he's a hard nosed player. A Freshman that will improve. Fans will love this guys has he matures.

Yeah, I think hammbone is being way too hard on Dusan, and way too prematurely. Admittedly, he definitely hasn't come into his own yet. He's a freshman and needs some time.

The one thing I keep telling myself to ease the pain of these tough losses is, if we can finally avoid the transfer-bug we have caught in recent years, these guys could really be a good team next season. If we can turn the corner next year and instead of falling in close games, we could be winning them because we've gone through the trenches. There's no doubt these type of games can help us down the road, even this season. But if we can't keep players at BG and we keep losing guys year after year, these games are going to be nothing but a waste and a painful reminder of what we need to get corrected.

I consider Moon to be dramatically superior to Floyd. However, Moon lacks scoring ability and he tends to pick up fouls with lightning speed. We therefore couldn't depend on him to be a full time point. It appears the Wright is our serious option for steady play at point.

It was also tough not getting any points out of Soler today. Just one basket from him in the first 40 minutes could have been the difference for us. Now I am certainly not blaming him for the loss, I'm just saying for a guy who's been scoring for us to get shutout, it hurts you in a game you lose that goes to OT.
