I only saw Doc and Merle once, when I was in high school in 1982, but it made a big impression on me. He was a wonderful picker and a great ambassador for mountain music. He also had a ton of charisma and charm. He was an America treasure.

Never saw either live. Wish I had. Maybe in the next life.
