I've caught parts of a few matches here and there. Pretty good stuff!

Wait- I thought this was one of the sports no one cares about?
Well, even someone with a Toledo education should full well realize that an international competition held every four years between 32 countries made up of the greatest football players in the world, garners slightly more attention than a MAC soccer contest between Toledo and Akron  Oh...wait...Toledo DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A MEN'S SOCCER TEAM ABOVE THE CLUB LEVEL!

Of course, everyone cares about it. Soccer is going to be the next big sport that sweeps across the US -- what with all the youth playing and the high interest in the cup.

At least that's what they told me in 1970, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994(that one was in the USA so it was a sure thing), 1998, 2002, and 2006.

I'm sure they won't be wrong this time.

(I'm not really a basher, I like the game and love "El Mundial". I went to Spain v. Italy in a quarterfinal in 1994 in Boston)

USA down 2-0 nearing half. If they don't at least get a tie they are likely finished. Unless Slovenia can also somehow defeat England.

So. We beat Algeria, and we advance out of the group. Win impressively, and we actually have a chance to win the group outright! England has to beat Slovenia, for that to happen, but it has to be a low-scoring game. Good luck, boys!

What is with the officiating in this WC? I thought these were supposed to be the best of the best. Not the defunct MISL referee school dropouts. Man, this is bad. First the U.S., then Kaka got a B.S. call on him...lots of things looking bad in the reffing department.

How about Karma for the North Koreans? Deny blowing up a South Korean ship, get ousted with a 7-0 BEATDOWN by Spain!! Although, I would've liked to see North and South play each other at some point. That could have been ugly!
