First thing we do is get in line for the Magnum. I want no part of that thing...but I didn't want to look like a pussy in front of my girlfriend and her dumbass friends, so...I get on it. I'm looking straaight down at my feet as we make that loooooong climb....she's aware of my phobia and is laughing her ass off. I look up in time to see Canada before we take that terrifying first drop.

It was awesome....rode every coaster in the park after that. The fricking magnum cured me....
I have a major fear of heights, so much so that I got weak in the knees looking at the Magnum. My first visit to Cedar Point was for Physics Day in high school. Unfortunately, we were assigned the Magnum. I let the rest of my group ride it. I sat on a bench and did the number crunching with their data. I was fully planning on not riding a single coaster when I was there, but I gave in and rode a few and liked them. I've also been to Cedar Point two other times (Physics Day #2 senior year and Whirlpool Day when I worked there).

I've ridden the Blue Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon, Snake River Falls, and Thunder Canyon, as well as the Cedar Downs Racing Carrousel, the Giant Wheel, the Space Spiral, and the Sky Ride. I realize those last four are not thrilling rides at all, but they are fun nonetheless. I enjoy the 4 coasters I listed, and the two water rides are fun as heck as well, although if I had to do it again I would probably never ride Snake River Falls (that scared the crap out of me). My favorite ride out of all of those is definitely the Mine Ride because it feels as though there's a purpose to the ride other than going up a big hill just to fall back down that hill.

Perhaps it makes me a chicken considering the rides I've been on and the ones I refuse to get on (nothing upside-down or "too" high), but I just can't get over that fear of mine.
ROLL ALONG!!!

I grew up near Cincinnati so our physics day was at Kings Island, which I knew like the back of my hand. A friend of ours, Brad, was deathly afraid of coasters and refused to ride a thing. So ... a group including Brad waited for the front seat of the Son of Beast, plan was for him to walk on to the other side of the platform while two others ride front seat. So the train finally arrived and while Brad tried to walk through the car one of the guys slammed him down into a seat and threw the harness down on him. He was stuck. His first roller coaster ride ever would be front seat on the Son of Beast. So ... much laughing at him later, he got over the absolute anger at our entire group and actually managed to enjoy the situation. A few years later he fully got over his fear of roller coasters bit I can say confidently that this story is the primary reason why Brad to this day loves roller coasters.

Yup...best way to beat a phobia is to turn it into a macho head game or a prank... :)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I had nothing to do with the Brad story. I just saw it happen.

Honestly!!
