The past 2 drafts have been pretty good, and I think the Browns are building a pretty decent young core. Thomas, Hardesty (assuming health), Little, Mack, Taylor, Sheard, Rubin, Haden, and Ward are all guys that I think can eventually be starters on a playoff team. Haden & Thomas are already stars.

The problem is that in this league if you don't hit on a QB you won't make the playoffs...the rest of the team DOES NOT MATTER. If you get the type of QB play the Browns have gotten recently the rest of the team is totally irrelevant.

Until the Browns finally get a decent QB they'll continue to be shitty. McCoy is one of the worst 5 starters in the NFL right now, and that's why they blow. Personally I fu**ing HATE physically limited QBs and the Browns (and their fanbase, for whatever reason) seem to love them. Give me a guy like Stafford and I'll live with his mistakes because I know he's going to A) Take the necessary chances to create big plays, and B) Has the physical ability to make things happen.
Brian,
Can't say I totally disagree with your evaluation...BUT....have you Watched the RIGHT side of the Brown's O line? It has been pathetic to say the least...if Pashos played most of the game, he must've seen pressure on McCoy, including sacks, knockdowns and "hurries". The other two stiffs who'd been starting weren't much better. Now, couple that with a young QB still learning on the job...with virtually NO WR's as threats... it's not good.. but I blame the O line for a lot of the problems on Sunday.

I'm not going to say that the right side of the OL is playing well, because they certainly aren't, but I really think Colt creates a good deal of the pressure on himself. The WCO is about getting the ball out quickly and on time, he routinely dances in the pocket and pats the ball when it is supposed to have already been delivered. It is NOT uncommon to see him holding the ball for 3, 4, 5 seconds, and that's too long in a WCO. Moreover he also has a Charlie Frye like tendency to run around like an idiot when there IS still a pocket for him to step up into. This really showed in the Tennessee game when he went to roll right (something he's done all season) and Tennessee was ready for it all game long.

Colt is young, and there is a chance he could learn, but I don't like QBs that are afraid to take chances at the get go. It's pretty rare that ball control guys focused on short safe completions ever become the type of guy that can lead a team. I'd much rather have the guy slinging it around taking chances that makes the occasional boneheaded plays into coverage. Those guys are the ones that tend to develop into elite passers with experience.

I concur wholeheartedly with your assessment.
