I saw a more original story on this, which wasn't designed to be a parody. It was either on yahoo or espn (don't remember which) and it stated that he went to Corey-Rawson High School, which is the reason why his hometown was mistakenly switched.

I found the article. It was a blog post on yahoo. Apparently it is something that gets updated almost continuously, because I checked the comments and they date back to 2009. Every time they post a new update, the old article is erased and the new article takes its place, but the comments stay. Weird.

I know Ben's aunt and have it on pretty good authority he never went to school there. He was actually a pretty big nobody until his senior year at Findlay when he was QB, his only year of football and lit it up. Everyone fell in love, and the monster known as Big Ben was born.

Further edit, I believe Ben is from the Cory-Rawson area, but did not go to high school there. He went to Findlay High School. What is making the story more bizarre is that he purposely misspelled the name.

Incidentally, Cory-Rawson is the alma mater of former falcons Joe and Bill Faine.

That is correct. He was on the team before that, but the coach at the time (I think it was Cliff Hite) started his son over Roethlisberger. Ben started only his senior year, but that was enough to win him a scholarship to Miami. That really says something for how talented he was; started one year and got a D-1 offer. As for lighting it up, he certainly lit up us when we played him. I think Findlay posted 50+ against us, Fremont Ross.

My Ben lore is a little rusty, but I seem to recall that he showed off his QB skills at the OSU football camp the summer before his senior year. Miami offered him a scholarship there. OSU loved what they saw but said they wanted to see him play for a season first. He ended up committing to Miami before his senior season. He blew up, got other offers, but honored his commitment to Miami (possibly the only honorable thing he's done in his life).

Personally, I'm just so glad to finally see that his hometown is seeing him for the douchebag he's always been. For years everybody in Findlay raved about how he was the greatest guy in the world. Everybody who lives in that town seems to have some connection. How many times have I heard some version of "My sister's ex boyfriends cousin babysat Ben's dog in 3rd grade". Everybody in that town suddenly became a Steelers fan when he was drafted an they all latched on to him as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everybody wanted to say they had a connection to Ben, and they all raved about how awesome he was. I always found that odd because everybody I personally know who had met him said he was a class A jackass.

Now his jackass antics have started to get him in hot water and the folks of Findlay are apparently not quite as forgiving. Ben is a douche. He's always been a douche. He will always be a douche. About time Findlay realized it.


Oh...of course if he wanted to play for Cleveland, I'd welcome the douche with open arms

Years ago, they were BIG teams to play against, especially during the days when Charles Woodson played there (I was only in middle school at the time). Fremont is making a comeback. Not sure about Clay.

Years ago, they were BIG teams to play against, especially during the days when Charles Woodson played there (I was only in middle school at the time). Fremont is making a comeback. Not sure about Clay.

I'm looking forward to this new conference. They get Toledo Whitmer back in their conference.

Clay's only time in the state playoffs was my senior year in 2004. It was a pretty magical run as we got in the last game of the year as Whitmer beat St. John's, after we beat Whitmer on a Statue of Liberty play with no time left. We unfortunately had to play Avon Lake and the lies of Navy's Bobby Doyle, and Iowa's Trey Stross.

The program used to be a powerhouse back in the 70s, but recently its been somewhat mediocre, beating the TPS schools and losing to the Catholic schools. IMO, Clay would be better suited for the NLL, but the TRAC will offer more in terms of top notch competition.

I remember when Woodson ran for 300 yards in the first half against Clay. He was a man amongst boys, a sure joy to watch back then.
