Nicholas got accepted into BGSU over the weekend. Of course, much to the consternation of his guidance counselor, its the only school he apply to and the only school he wants to attend.

Guidance counselors seem to think everybody has $400 to blow on college application fees, and that only applying to one school is a horrible idea.

I love it when the students say to me that they need an application fee waiver because it's so expensive to apply to ten or twelve different colleges.

Congratulations!

Like me, BG was my only application.

Over homecoming my daughter [9 yrs] said, "I'm going here for college, dad." No surprise. Her lullaby was our Alma Mater - which still works, by the way.

Tech: Fantastic news. Congrats!

I still recall Noah at the Motor City Bowl when he was 6: When I play football for Bowling Green, I'm going to play defense and I'm going to crush people.

He'll be 13 next week and his plans haven't changed a bit.

Congrats Tech, and Nicholas also.

I think my son (a junior) isn't even looking at any colleges. He's already decided he is going to BGSU. Don't know what he's going to study, but he wants to go to BG.

Unless of course a football scholarship is in the offing. Then he will be directed to attend whatever school offers the most money.

And don't forget the car and the women as well.

Thanks all..... Nicholas intends to pursue architecture and join the family business.

He has gotten a couple of letters of interest to pole vault at small schools, but he's not interested in sports demanding all of his time. He's intent on BG and architecture.

Nicholas will be the sixth member of the family to attend BG - Other than myself, Mrs. Tech and her two sisters and her youngest brother.

Congrats, tech and son! You must be very proud. I wish I was smarter when I was choosing a major and had gone into physical therapy to take over my Mom's business. Hopefully he likes it once he really gets into it (assuming he hasn't already)

Like others have said, my only application was to BG. Knew I wanted to come here from the get-go thanks to my high school music director.

A quick update..... I seem to spend more time on Facebook than here.

We got Nicholas moved in a week ago Friday. He is in Centennial Hall - the new dorm that replaced Rodgers. The dorm is fantastic. Nicholas is in a double with a private bath (all rooms have private baths, corner rooms are triples). Falcon Fanatic visited him Saturday, which was really nice of her.

Move in was a freaking bust. Absolutely mismanaged and ill-run. Lots of student volunteers in orange t-shirts just standing around. We had 30 minutes to move in..... it took two hours. It took us less than 15 minutes to unload Sam at his dorm at OSU. (What's wrong with that picture - ) Some simple things would help. Have students check in at the Stroh or the Stadium. Then proceed to your dorm where the army of orange T-shirts are actually working by unloading cars into carts. No parking at the dorms. PERIOD. This would make things move much smoother.

We've heard from Nicholas a couple times, he is enjoying classes and meeting friends.

We'll (Mrs. Tech and I) will be up for the Wyoming game and Homecoming. Hope to catch up with everyone at the Tailgate. Look for Nicholas - he has already been talking about catching up with everyone at the Tailgate. FF, Transfer, Grant, and Hammb should be able to point Nicholas out. Not sure if Flipper, Metz, TG, Warthog will remember meeting Nicholas at the golf outing a few years back. (of course - he's a bit taller and bigger -)

Just a quick note. It speaks volumes about the community that has developed here over the years. Nicholas - who is a bit shy when he first meets people - has a bit of confidence and security knowing he can visit the tail gate and see some familiar and friendly faces. To have FF and her daughter stop by and visit him last week was VERY nice. He has been talking for the past year about being able to visit the tail gate and see people he has met here at the hockey games and elsewhere. So thanks to everyone.

Roll On My fellow BG Warriors.
