rood...I think the hiring of Tom Wilson by the Ilitch family was the first step in getting that done. There's been talk that someone is paying a nice chunk of change for land near Ford Field and they're getting confidentiality agreements from the sellers. That may be where the arena is going to end up.

RWT...this will be a great thing for Detroit if it comes to pass.

Do you think that they will make it a multi-purpose arena so the Pistons can move to downtown as well? I think it would be pretty cool to have all 4 teams within a stones throw from one another.

The way they were talking about it on the radio yesterday that is indeed the plan

Indeed, that was Ilitch's end game all along. Some are not keen on the expectation of him leveraging the city and county for funds for the new arena, but he has done so much for the city and area I think he deserves some assistance.

Supposedly, both Pistons and Wings would play there for a couple years until a new multipurpose stadium is built downtown. The Palace would remain as a prime concert venue.

Why play the Palace when you can play right downtown in the new digs? I don't see the Palace staying open if the Pistons leave. Unless the Shock want to try and pay the rent with their 300 fans per game. And I'm being generous!

Ummmmmmmmm, the Shock left town for Tulsa just about a year ago. Not to mention they usually drew around 7-8 thousand fans a game.

Ahhh...well, sounds like they draw Zero now...lol
