Re: RIP Sparky
I got to pat him on the back once in Tiger Stadium. He ran off the field on the third base side by the bullpen and into the Tigers clubhouse. You certainly don't get that type of opportunity in this day and age of the modern ballpark.

I was lucky enough to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He will be greatly missed.

Re: RIP Sparky
I am a lifelong Reds fan, and recently read "The Machine," a book that focused solely on the '75 Reds. There was a lot about Sparky and his managing style in that book and I have to say this is definitely a big loss. He was a great manager and from all that I have ever heard, a great man as well.
