RIP Frank Gilhooley

Post by gmartin »

Sad day in Toledo as longtime Toledo Mud Hens radio broadcaster and former 13 News sports anchor Frank Gilhooley has passed away. Ernie Harwell, Sparky George Anderson, and now Frank all within the same year. I remember growing up watching Sparky and listening to Ernie and Frank on the radio. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and those lives he touched. He will be dearly missed.

I think Gilhooley was a big time HS athlete in his youth as well. Maybe someone more familiar can elaborate.

I believe one of the obits said he played baseball and basketball at Notre Dame. High school at Central Catholic, maybe?

Great, great guy. I worked with him for a week when he subbed in at Ch. 13 in '95. Super nice guy and always made sure I had money for dinner.

Do you think he will be "put up" in an "good looking" casket?

Seriously...RIP Frank. Your voice will be missed.
