LeBron's life in danger?

Post by gmartin »

So does anybody think that LeBron's life is in danger tomorrow going back to Cleveland for the first time since leaving. I just heard on the radio that the city of Cleveland, The CAVS, and the NBA have spent 3.6 million dollars so far in beefing up security for this game. Over 5000 extra officers and security guards at the arena, hotel, airport, as well as the Heats team bus escorted by police escort. Bringing in metal detectors at the arena. People can expect to be patted down.

Cleveland is known for being violent at times at its sporting events. Throwing beer bottles at its football games and attacking a 8 year old boy for wearing a JETS jersey.

All you need is one mental person to cause a problem.

I have never been a LeBron fan ever since he said I had to pay for his autograph when I saw him at a MAC tournament game a few years back. I lost all respect then but seriously do you think something bad is going to happen tomorrow?

This is Cleveland, so anything is possible

I am probably the only person on this board who is a fan of Colin Cowherd, but he made a great point about this today, going back to the brawl at the palace, while Ron Artest gets the blame he deserves, it should be remembered that of the four main fans in the fight, three had prior crimminal records, "bottom feeders for society" if you will, and those type of people live for moments like this. So yes something may happen if a liquored up fan with prior incidents to his name decided to takes things over the line. With that being said, with all the hype abut the extra precautions I wouldn't be surprised is nothing happens.

5,000?

Really?

Looks like two extra zero's in there (maybe even three).

3.6 million? C'mon. That sounds totally ridiculous.

Heard it on Sporting news radio. But they said 5000. They said 20 to 25 uniformed and non uniformed in each section. And in the lobby and outside arena and in parking lot. It won't take much to add up. I do know metal detectors are very expensive and plus OT for the officers so it doesn't take long to add it all up. Police escort can't be cheap. I just say treat it as a regular game and what happens happens. I am not a LeBron fan and I have no reason him leaving Cleveland. I think Gilbert is a joke personally. And now he is going to runa casino??? I just think the comments of LeBron after he left was uncalled for. He had every right to leave. He fulfilled his commitment to the team.

Yes, he had every right to leave.

He also had every right to host a national TV show centered around his own narcissistic self that could quite obviously be seen as rubbing it in the faces of all of Cleveland, hometown, and the fans that supported him since he was making thousands for playing HS ball.

That doesn't mean that it was a good decision to do so, and he's going to have to live with the backlash. I don't think his life will be in danger, nor do I think anything will happen beyond some booing and choice comments for everybody's favorite #2 sidekick.

I laugh at LeBron now...even if they do go on to win titles he'll NEVER be MJ...he cemented his legacy as a #1 talent that doesn't have the guts/heart/leadership to be anything more than a #2.

Sounds like a big fish tale to make fans scared IMO.

The city of Cleveland shows approximately 1,600 police officers. So if every one is there, you need 3,400 more security guards, Cuyahoga Sheriffs, and State Police. Criminals are going to have a heyday in the rest of the city if true.
500 is more likely.

I'm just hoping for an injury. An ACL, MCL, & PCL tear would be fine by me. And have the whole arena cheer loudly as LeBastard writhes on the ground in agony.

No bottle throwing, no on-court mishap, no weapons. Just a good ole career ender.

I hate the guy with as much passion as anyone, but I would never wish something like that on him. I would rather him play and have this team fail. Much more satisfying.

I just want the Cavs to win. Lost in all this madness is Z will be returning to the Q...I really hope he gets a warm reception, which I think he will. As for LeBron? I think it would be cool to see the crowd do the BG hockey "Who's he? Nobody!!!" with newspapers. Or, everyone just turn around when the Heat are introduced. I love the city of Cleveland and hope nobody does anything stupid. Boo, heckle or just cheer loudly for the CAVALIERS but don't go overboard. LeBron is still just one man on a different team now. He didn't murder or rape anyone. As far as Cleveland fans being violent? Sheese. Maybe take a look at NY or Phila first.
