Dandy Don Meredith, original member of the Monday Night Football TV team, passed away at 72 from a brain hemorage. Doesn't it seem that former NFL players have a shorter life span than the average man?

It doesn't just seem like it, NFL players definitely exchange years off the end of their life on average for the lifestyle playing in the NFL affords. The data on this is only going to get stronger as the most recent crop of NFL retirees get older. The game has gotten more physical over time, so I would bet they start dying even earlier, on average.
However, Meredith is the exception, having outlived his life expectancy by about 10 years.

I know 61 and I and maybe a few others on this forum hope you don't think 62 is the average age of death for US males and rather you were using some data for NFL players. The average life expectancy for US males is 75 1/2,

Thanks....A LOT!!!!! Since I was born in 1940, you're saying I should've been "gone" NINE years ago?
Actually, came close enough to scare me, due to a heart attack shortly after my 60th birthday.
