I'd like your input....

I own this Barbie. Does the fact that it's a Joan Jett Barbie in any way shape or form lessen the shame a man my age should feel for actually owning a Barbie?

This one will require some finesse, I think? Ummm, WHY do you own a Barbie? There could be a good reason and just because I spent twenty minutes thinking about it and couldn't come up with one doesn't mean there isn't one.
BUT, if a man is to own a Barbie, the Joan Jett model would be the one to own! The fact that it appears to still be in the package is a good sign-you could call it, uh, AN INVESTMENT. Yeah, that's it - those suckers will probably take off like crazy when Joan goes toes up and you'll be the one laughing then. Not that we're laughing, you understand. We wouldn't laugh at a grown man owning a Barbie. Nothing wrong with it. No.

Flipper - Joan Jett saves it for me. And the fact that they actually have the right guitar (White Gibson Melody Maker - AND with the mods she had done to it) makes this clearly acceptable. And since you have a daughter... this is also acceptable as you clearly want to show her that girls are allowed to rock.....but she doesn't have to be a lesbian to rock... you might want to clarify that.... not that there's anything wrong with that -
Ummm... my "doll" collection.... which were actually my personal toys..... the dog tags and rifles with the painted heads are repros. Everything else is original. I feel "some" shame. I also have three of the Adventure Team Joes (ca 1970).

I'd prefer to have a Joan Jett Barbie.

In all seriousness, why should a man feel shame about owning a Barbie?

Any truth to the rumor that Grant has a John Wetton "Ken" doll?

Flipper -
How did you decide which of the "ladies of the 80's" Barbies should be in your "collection? I see there are also
Debbie Harry and Cyndi Lauper versions.

Anything Joan Jett is great. The rocker grrrrl Joan Jett Barbie is cool but I'd also like to see the "Walker: Texas Ranger" high-priced assassin Joan Jett doll. Ms. Jett would stab people with....I don't wanna ruin it for people who haven't seen it, but it's truly Jett-tastic..

Whoa...Deborah Harry? I liked me some Blondie back in the day. Picked up a Ghost Rider mighty mugg last week...thought it looked cool even though I'm not reallyinto the comic book thing.

Does look pretty cool.... would be great for the desk or bookshelf. How big are these? Are they plastic or metal?
