NLL Basketball Schedule Change
To avoid a conflict with Ohio State's football game against Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl, all of the Northern Lakes League boys basketball games on Tuesday have been moved to the following night.
The games will be played at the same times and places on Wednesday, NLL Commissioner Larry Morrison announced.
Also, the tip-off for Lakota's boys home game against Hopewell-Loudon Tuesday has been moved up an hour.
Even my church did something similar a couple years ago by moving an important meeting just to avoid a conflict with an OSU game. It's freaking ridiculous! It's a sporting event with college kids. I think Commissioner Morrison may need to change his priorities on things in life.

I suspect the reality of the situation is that the schools would like some revenue from those games and didn't see that happening to a significant extent. Well, that and the fact that the teachers, coaches and administrators wouldn't show up for the games because they'd be home watching the tOSU game.

Tom, I couldn't agree more on this one. The most ironic thing about this is The OSU basketball team was playing Iowa at the same time as the bowl game. Did OSU change the basketball game? Nope, played as scheduled. So high schoolers change their games around OSU football games while OSU doesn't even change their own basketball games. What a joke.
And the football game didn't kick off until 8:37. If your high school basketball team played at home, you probably still had time to get home before the kickoff. At worst, anyone would have missed the first quarter at most.
But seriously, how many fans showed up at a basketball game on a Wednesday night that wouldn't have been there if that game was the same time as the OSU football game. I've been to NLL basketball games. Not a real big following at these games, especially on a week night. Visiting teams don't bring many more fans than parents and real die-hard fans. Think any of those are staying home to watch OSU football over going to the high school game? Doubt it.

Seriously, I suspect there was just as many people that didn't go on Wed night because of other commitments they already had as the number of people who wouldn't have come on Tues due to the football game. So it's a wash in my opinion.

Actually, Iowa refused the OSU request to move the game date and time. OSU had two options - one was to play the game as scheduled.

Ironic you mentioned this -
I refereed two basketball games (freshman and JV) last night in the NLL because of that moved date. Gym was actually somewhat filled (and it was a pretty good high school sized gym).
I had a game Tuesday night too - they moved all the games up an hour so they didn't conflict with the Sugar Bowl. That gym was absolutely packed (much smaller gym than last night though). What was really pathetic was at halftime, they played the OSU fight song over the PA about 3 times...
The following of OSU in this state makes me sick too... However, in this case, it did get me two more games to referee than I would have had!

Any serious school would get out of that two-bit league.

Or one that hasn't won a football game in three years. Need I remind you how my son single-handedly stomped the Bulldogs this season?

We felt bad for the kid. Have you met his father?

I cannot tell you how sick and tired I am of anything and everything associated with Obnoxious State University. No wonder people think everyone in the state of Ohio worships at the Altar of Woody when crap like this happens. BTW, good for Iowa for telling OSU to f off.

Amen. We know these scarlet and gray clad sheep think the world revolves around OSU and now it actually does.

You ARE IN OHIO, genius! Is everybody supposed to root for a losing MAC school? Perhaps they are supposed to root for Florida if they live in OHIO?

No. They're SUPPOSED to root for THEIR
Alma Mater and the majority of OSU fans are not students, alumni, parents, or even family members of students/alumni. That's what ticks me off. Every time I see a BG student with OSU stuff on at a BG sporting event I want to smack them. The disgusting following of OSU in this state makes me want to

.

The majority of people in this state didnt even go to college...so i guess the majority of people shouldn't watch college football because they can not be a fan of college football...using your logic.
Using your logic, the USA would be rid of freedom of choice.
If I pay to go to school at BGSU and want to cheer for OSU because that is what I grew up with and had devoted a lot more time and attention to in my overall life then who are you to tell me otherwise?
Your ignorant argument is communist and <mocking>that makes me sick</mocking>

. You don't go to school to cheer for a football team. You go for an education.
Apparently that is not the case for you.
