Goodbye Tiger hello Rory

Granted it being a European but it looks like we may have a new young golfer to follow, Rory McIlroy. He is just 22 but he is tearing up the US Open. After 2 rounds he holds the 111 year record as the best score after 2 rounds at an impresssive 11 under. He had a double bogey at the 36th hole after hitting a shot into the water or he would be 13 under. The lowest 4 round total at the US Open is 12 under, so he broke that record too. And he currently leads by 9 strokes after the 2nd round, another record. I enjoy following golf, especially the majors, but I must say I do not miss Tiger Woods. I just hope that Rory doesn't choke this lead away like he did at the Masters earlier this year.

I have to agree - McIlroy is very impressive. I love watching the majors as well (except for how it reminds me terrible I am

)
I really don't miss Tiger either.

Well count me among the millions of fans who do miss Tiger. I just find it very difficult to care about the sport since Tiger's issues started. I hope he somehow gets back to his previous form to get me interested again.
I do think McIlroy is a great young player though, and could very well be the one to start capturing everyone's interest.

The reason I miss Tiger was because he was an American and he was very animated. If he hit a bad shot and he was pissed at himself, he didn't just walk away like it was no big deal. When he hit a a great shot and he was excited, he didn't just walk to his next shot like it was not big deal, with a tip of the hat or a slight gesture to the crowd. No. He fist pumped his excellent putts and he muttered and yelled at himself on his poor shots. It was like watching myself on the screen, except I did much less fist pumping and much more cursing, muttering, and yelling.

Don't get me wrong - he was a lot of fun to watch, but I just really can't get past what he did off the course.
And like you, for me on the course it's definitely much more cursing and muttering
