Reason #158,986 why ESPN sucks!

Since Boston and New York renew their series this weekend...of course it is once again the ESPN Sunday Night Game of the Week.

Trivia Question: Can you name the four American League teams that have been featured on the Sunday night telecast this year not named Boston or New York?

That's right. Of the 18 Sunday night telecasts...even including inter-league play...there have only been four American League teams other than Boston and New York.

And to make it worse, (not counting Inter-league games) there has not been one single American League game shown that was just two random AL teams. It has always included either Boston or New York!

The actual stats: 18 total Sunday night games. 10 were National League games, 4 were Inter-League games and 4 were American League games.

Sorry. I read your entire post but I don't see what the problem is. Well, other than the fact that Boston and the Yankees, my two favorite teams, don't play each other on ESPN every day. Is that what you meant?

The thread title should probably say Reason #158,986 why the people who watch ESPN suck. Its not ESPN's fault the people want to watch Boston and New York over the other AL teams.

At least for me, being upset about what ESPN covers has officially jumped the shark, I say this because last week on facebook I saw someone post rant saying ESPN needed to cover NFL stuff less and some swimming event more, yeah because thats what people were wanting to see all summer, not football and when it would come back, but swimming

Guess I don't see the problem here either. I mean, more than half of the games were National league games. And New York and Boston just happen to be the two best teams in the American League. Why wouldnt they want to show the best teams and get higher ratings? I'm guessing Philadelphia probably has been on lot too.

Are you advocating Kansas City vs Seattle should be covered?

I understand that New York and Boston draw the best ratings. But out of 18 games, only showing one Texas vs. New York game and one Tampa Bay vs. Boston game seems a little light. They do play other teams as well.

And to add to that, what explains the discrepancy of showing all the NL games compared to AL games? Not to mention almost every sports center baseball highlight series starts with a NL game. Heck, when Verlander threw a no-hitter vs Toronto earlier this year their lead baseball story was the end of Andre Ethier's 30 game hit streak.

Sorry, I guess it is just something that bothers me. ;)

Not necessarily trying to rain on your parade, but a number of those of us who are fans of National League teams felt like baseball coverage was skewed AL for a number of years not that long ago. My take? It's cyclical. Right now, I guess ESPN just thinks that the NL is offering more compelling matchups.
