Tragedy at Indiana State Fair

I was at the Indiana state fair on saturday night when they had the tragedy of the collapsed stage. I wasn't near the stage or in the grandstand area as I was in the midway, but I was within about 1000 feet when I saw the stage collapse . I have never seen a wind gust come up like that ever before. There was lightning and thunder in the distance but no rain at the time of the incident. The moments following was like a scene out of a movie. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who lost loved ones. The fair was closed on Sunday but is open again today. Personally I think the fair should offer free addmission today for those that are mourning and want to pay their respects. I definitely will remember this event for the rest of my life.

Five people were killed and some still remain in critical condition, including a cheerleader from Ball State University

Difficult balance for promoters - you have a show to put on and a lot of people are there, lot of $ involved. But you have to do the right thing. In this case it sounds like it may not have been at all clear what the right thing was though- weather does some freaky, unpredictable stuff. Reminds me a little of the Notre Dame thing. If there's a decent chance of bad weather get folks out. Of course then you get blamed for the riot....

My wife and sister in law were in attendance. They were on the floor on the left side. About 7 to 10 seconds before it came down, they could hear a very loud creeking sound. She said people started running. They were both pretty shaken still when they got home. The video is absolutely horrifying. Everyone injured or who lost a love one is in my thoughts and prayers.

So today on the local news, it stated to contact Ticketmaster for refunds from this show. I called and their member service person told me there is no record of this concert being cancelled. I asked him if he was joking. He kept stating that there is no record of this concert being cancelled. I told him that today on the news it stated to contact Ticketmaster. Strangely our call was disconnected. Can't get through since.

That sucks...typical Ticketmaster BS. Just saw the video on the news...that had to be pretty scary for your wife and sister-in-law. I was at the concert n Comerica park on Saturday..we had some heavy weather move in, but Comerica is like a fortress, so we just had to get off the field and up into the concourse. We just got some water in our beer and we missed 20 minutes of Sammie Hagar....hardly newsworthy.

Perhaps word of the incident hadn't reached Mumbai yet.
