I just received an email from my parents. They were out doing early morning grocery shopping and went past buffalo wild wings on wooster street. They said the marquee sign out front on both sides said CLOSED. Does anyone know why the restaurant is closed.

They are supposed to be moving to a new location in town, down by Chipotle where that old hotel once stood (Kings Inn?). Do they already have a new building?

That won't be for another 18 months. They just tore down the hotel and the lot isn't even paved or cleaned up to begin building. Maybe they had a fire or something.

I found a news story about it:

Apparently, they aren't going to stay open up through when the new building is up. Perhaps they need to move equipment?

Their rent was going to go up $1,000 a month for the current building and the landlord was refusing to negotiate.

I have an MBA, but still have a lot to learn, apparently, because this makes no sense to me.

Especially for a building that has had about 18 tenants over the 20+ years I have been in BG. Finally get something that has been successful there so raise the rent and drive them out. Yep, that makes sense.

You must either be awfully generous with your "+", WH, or the years before my freshman year featured a tenant a month. I can think of 3 tenants since Fall '92.

I may be streching it a bit, but from the time I went to BG in the Fall of 1985, it was literally something different every year.

....but a lot of those were by the same person, who I believe is still the current owner.

The owner may have another tenant lined up who wants the space now...you jack the rent up and force the current guy out..if it's a similar concept bar, you can run for months while the competiton is in mothballs...or he may want to make mjaor cosmetic changes ot the property and the sooner the current occupant skedaddles, the better.
In other words, there's probably a method to the madness...

I believe your right about the owner of the building.
At least he was the owner back when Dana R was the GM at BW3.

I'm hoping it becomes an adult megastore.
