East Coast Swamped

Post by 1987alum »

It's pretty ugly here in Southeastern PA. The Delaware River is already flooding out some towns and looks like it will be rising onto roadways near us sometime today.

While our house is unlikely to sustain direct damage, these things tend to lead to extended power outages, which are never fun. And there's a fair chance that we will get flooded into our neighborhood, as the three routes out can be swamped.

As is often the case, we're just watching every forecast we can and hoping for the best.

Things are really deteriorating here. The river may near "100-year-flood" stage by tomorrow. The road along the river is closed for more than 20 miles. I've seen it bad here, but I think this is going to be the worst.

I saw some pictures on line of various roads, including bridges just torn apart because of the water.
I hope you are all safe.

We'll be thinking of you-water is scary stuff, absolutely relentless. Here's hoping some dry, hot weather goes through.
