Don't forget Womens Soccer didn't even qualify for the MAC tournament.....Weren't they title contenders consistently before GC?

In his defense, every team in his 5+ years has been young.

I can accept it because athletics were a very small part of my collegiate experience. I can accept it because in the grand scheme of my life I attended BGSU for academic reasons. I can accept it because after graduation I donated for academics before I ever purchased a ticket to an athletic event.

So I guess I will :drinkers: and hope that a university experience will be affordable for my kids. If that means that athletics has to make cuts then chop away :axe: .

They could always go to any of the other Ohio schools that have a well rounded academic program AS WELL as a good athletic program and some are less expensive than BG and others a little more!
Maybe if they were good enough they could get a full athletic scholarship! ;)

I'm still waiting for the factman go present us with some actual facts... Right now your facts are as prevalent as a fart in a windstorm. Are you ever going to put up or shut up??

Of course if you did actually shut up I'm sure Drago would pick up the banner of ridiculousness and move forward.

I LOVE how you have brought up volleyball in the conversation. I am sure GC went to coach V and said "if you don't tank this season I'll fire you when it's over!" But then again I am sure that is the conversation he has with all of our coaches, right???

The MAIN fact is that I HATE lOSING and BG has been real good at it since this AD has been at BG. I understand that this is only part of the job, but it is a major part of the job, not only the wins and loses, but to create a winning atmosphere in the department. Just as a football, baseball or basketball coach has to worry about the academics, and administration of his program, he also has to worry about Wins and Losses. If their W/L is horrible, they aren't around long (usually about five years to prove themselves). I believe this is five years plus for GC and the departments W/L record is HORRIBLE!

If you want the facts, just look at the record for the past five years.

Here are the facts.

Football already with two more wins than last season.

Men's Soccer with their best record since 2003 (Well before GC's hire) with games left to play.

Women's Soccer with their most wins since 2008.

Volleyball with their most wins since 2008, plus the fact that the same coach has been in place for 25+ years

Swimming is 2-2 which puts them on pace to have their best season in several years as well, along with a new highly regarded coach.

Hockey playing more competitively this season since and enjoying their best start in a decade in just the second year with Bergeron at the reigns.

THOSE are the facts that I see. Call it rose colored glasses but it's better that the sh*t colored glasses that factman wears.

But those are more long term statistics! I only want to see short term statistics! Only short term stats prove a point, not long term stats! Stop making fun of my stats!

Seems to me that BG non-revs are making something of a comeback- this looks more like a bad weekend.

Swimming is always going to give up meets to those squads that have diving programs. We give up 32 points (16 points per event).

Petra Martin has done an amazing job with the swim team, but without a diving program, the girls know they are not going to win those meets where diving is in play.

I have had the opportunity to see some outstanding diving from the likes of Eastern Michigan, Cleveland State, and most recently Ohio. I've also had the opportunity to observe some terrible dives by the same programs.

Speaking of the swim team - next home meet is this coming Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 PM at the Cooper Natatorium against Eastern Michigan.

Why don't we have a diving program? We have the facilities for such events. Do we just not have a coach for it?

We suspended the program a few years ago. Evidently we had a lot of part-time assistant coaches for the diving program. Never enough money to hire a full-time diving coach.
