It's hard to believe it's been 11 years.

A horrible year I'll never forget. I had just lost my grandmother 9 days prior.

I was sitting in 8th grade math at the time when our teacher said, "So you don't go to lunch hearing everyone else talking about this and wondering what they are talking about, America is under attack."
We were the last class to find out. I remember just blankly staring at the TV in complete shock of what was happening.

I was a sophomore in HS at the time, in second period history class scrambling to complete my homework for third period biology class completed while half paying attention to the lecture, when our principal announced on the PA that we should turn to CNN because "something has happened which we will all be talking about for a long time." Needless to say I now had far more on my mind than the homework assignment. The students in the school ranged from silent to angry to panic. Not a single TV in the school was off all day and every one of our classes focused not on the lesson at hand but on the impact of an attack on American soil and mass murder of 3,000 innocent Americans on our lives and the future years of this country. It's hard to imagine that the kids who are now sophomores in high school were four or five at the time, too young to really comprehend what has happened. These are kids whose entire perspectives of the world have been shaped in a post-9/11/01 reality.
